Buffy The Vampire Slayer > BTVS - Season Three
Prom: The series by Chelle
[Reviews - 1]

Tonight is the Prom. The night for us to put our groove shoes on, and party. That is, unless Buffy doesn't stop those formal wear-loving demon dogs. If it were a full moon tonight, she would be stopping me too. I'm just like those dogs. They maim and kill, just like I do. But I'm more of a t-shirt and jeans kind of dog.

So far, no attacks, so Buffy must be stopping them. She puts her life on the line to ensure the safety of people that she doesn't even know. I could never do that. If Buffy weren't here, the human race wouldn't stand a chance. There would be no human race, if not for her. We would cease to exist. She is like God in that way. No her, no human race. But no one knows it.

"We got in. Maybe we should dance before we get besieged, bedeviled, or beheaded or something," Willow says to me, as we enter the gym.

She is still worried, but logically, if we were going to be killed and eaten, it would have happened by now. The demon dogs would have come in and devoured us the moment the music started, or they would have caught us in the parking lot. Buffy is taking care of it.

"It's not gonna happen," I say to her, trying to reassure her, but mostly trying to keep it calm.

"You're not even a little nervous?" she says. I know she wants to know what I am thinking. I can tell.

"You think Buffy is going to let us down?" I reply. I know she won't. But I also know that if she does, that tomorrow won't matter. Unless we survive the attack.

" Want to share some punch?" she changes the subject, thankfully so. We walk towards the refreshment table.

I notice that Xander is here as well. Xander is a good guy, I have no problems with him. But a few months back, he and Willow kissed. And they were caught. I know that it would have gone farther if we weren't there to stop them. Since then, things haven't been the same with Willow. I have forgiven her, but I cannot forget. She kissed Xander, who has kissed Cordelia, who has kissed who knows how many people. Most of, if not all of the football team, a few musicians, and God knows how many others. So, in essence, I have made out with the entire Sunnydale High football team, and at least a few members of Dingoes ate My Baby. But kissing Willow's lips are worth knowing that.

Buffy finally walks through the door, wearing her formal wear, and looking as if she didn't have to take on a few demon puppies. It's amazing how she can fight so much and still be able to get herself together. She looks nice tonight. Willow and I meet her near the door as she walks in.

"Buffy, you look awesome," Willow says. She's not wrong.

"So do you," Buffy replied.

" Everything cool?" I ask, as if her being here, and us being alive wasn't answer enough for my question.

"Coolest. Devil dogs are history. How's the prom?" she answers. The prom is a place for superficiality, and false sense of heirarchy in the public school system, they play bad music, and we make fools of ourselves. But in a fun way. In a fun, hey let's dance like no one is watching and will tell everyone they know about our crazy dance faux pas later kinda way. I think.

"Strangely affecting. I got all teared up when they played 'We Are Family'." I say instead.

" Everything's perfect," Willow says. It is perfect. For now.
