Epilogue: Honeymooners Away!
"That was a terrific reception," Buffy said. " Thank you so much, all of you guys, for the help."
"Hey, no problem," Oz said, smiling. " The Dingoes were ecstatic to play for newlyweds."
"Same here," Cordelia agreed. " Except it was only me, and I was ecstatic to plan the whole thing."
"You guys really pulled it off," Xander said, carefully kissing Cordy on the cheek, though speaking to Buffy and Angel. " Good way to tie the knot."
"Where's the resort?" Willow asked.
"Oh, Angel refuses to tell me," Buffy grimaced at her husband.
"It's a surprise," he said, with perfect aplomb.
Rose was asleep in Xander's arms; that was why he'd been so careful about kissing Cordelia earlier, he didn't want to wake her up. Selena had fallen asleep even before her friend. Giles was rocking her gently in the crook of his arm. Both were stuffed full of cake, and Coca-Cola.
"Well, then, I guess we'll be going now," Buffy said softly. "We'll see you guys in two weeks."
"I'll be very observant of your posture after those two weeks," Faith broke in, having easily rid herself of the various testosterone- pumped males who had wanted a little more than dancing.
"Oh, you," Buffy said, lightly tousling the other Slayer's hair, as the recipient grinned unrepentantly.
"Aw, group hug," Willow said. All rushed in, nearly crushing Buffy and Angel, except for Xander and Giles, who ached to do so but could not because of the precious burdens in their arms. Neither did Hank, but he wanted to give his daughter a private good-bye.
Buffy moved to hug Xander, but he shook his head.
Instead, he asked," Can I get one kiss from the bride?"
"Of course," Buffy said, giving him a kiss on the cheek, before moving on to Giles. Xander freed one hand to shake hands with Angel.
Buffy couldn't resist but gave Giles a small hug, before turning to her daughter, who Giles easily handed over.
"I'm going to miss you, Selena," she murmured, as she kissed the daughter's forehead, and held her close for the last time before the honeymoon. Then she handed her over to Joyce, who smiled gently, and kissed her own now-married daughter's forehead.
Selena yawned, and woke up, blinking at her mother.
"Where're you and Daddy going?"
"Mommy and I are going to go somewhere by ourselves," Angel said, softly, after having shaken hands with Giles as well. He kissed the top of Selena's forehead, too. " You don't mind very much, do you?"
To their surprise, she shook her head, and said," I do mind, but don't worry. I want you two to have some fun by yourselves, anyway."
"You're very mature for such a young age," Giles couldn't help but murmur.
Selena shrugged, and said," Not really. I know I'm gonna be spoiled rotten by all of you, anyway." All in the group laughed.
"You guys are still here?" Rose asked, having woken up also. " Get outta here, go party."
"With that blessing we shall," Angel said, wryly. He opened the door on the passenger's side of the Chrysler Sebring convertible for Buffy, who had finished a warm conversation with her father, and shut it for her as she got in. Then he got in himself.
As they drove away, thanks to their superhuman hearing, they heard Hank say," Tomorrow, I'll bring you to the ice show I used to take your mother to. Then we can go to the Los Angeles Zoo."
"Zoo?" they heard Xander say, in an alarmed tone. " Don't get near the hyenas!"
At that, the newly-married bride and groom laughed, as they drove away into the sunset.
