I do not own any of the characters of BTVS. They belong to Joss Whedon and Co. The story is mine though.

Part Three
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Yes" said Buffy "I am or I was the slayer."
"There is no was, unless your a dead slayer," said Duncan "You don't get to choose, just like I don't get to choose what I am."
Anna was confused, Duncan had never told her of slayers. They had actually always lived peacefully. She knew what Duncan was, and had accepted it long ago, when she was Buffy's age. Duncan had saved her from a mugger one night scaring him off with his vamp face. She had been frightened at first also but quickly realized that he meant her no harm. When his face had returned to human form, he had run away, knowing she was safe now.
Anna had chased him down, and asked him to please walk her home. He did, and she fell in love with a 100 year old vampire and he fell in love with a 17 year old girl. They had been together ever since. Life was pretty easy for them. They did miss children though. Anna knew that sometime in the future people would start wondering why she looked so much older then her husband, but she didn't want to think about that now.
"What is a slayer?" asked Anna.
"She is the chosen one to kill the vampires, demons, etc." said Duncan " and it looks like Buffy is a good one."
Buffy was still amazed that Duncan was a vampire. She also felt for Anna, someone had something in common with her. She told Anna and Duncan everything that had happened with Angel.
Duncan smiled "Angelus is older then me, but we have something in common, 17 year old girls." he then got serious "Buffy, are you sure Angel's soul was restored before he entered the vortex?"
Buffy replied "Yes, I'm sure, trust me, it haunts me every night." She silently wondered about his question, Whistler had asked the same thing.
In the dark basement of a ware house, Whistler was talking to someone, someone special. "You've got to get your strength back and I'll answer all your questions."
The sad figure replied "I don't remember anything, I know she loved me, why?"
Whistler replied "All in good time, Angel my boy. I'll explain it all in good time. Right now you have to rest." Whistler left to go check on the prom queen. He could see Buffy through the window. She looke okay, she would be more okay when he could tell her the good news. But they both needed some more time. These two had a rough go ahead of them no matter what. He thought he should talk them out of this love thing. But the thing was, he felt good about their live in a weird way. He also knew it wasn't going anywhere, no matter what he said.
Meanwhile back in Sunnydale:
Xander was moping around the library. Buffy had been gone over a week. All they had left of her was the note she had left her Mom. Which only explained that she had to go and she would be okay.
Giles interrupted Xanders brooding. "Xander have you heard?" Xander interrupted him before he could finish "No, I haven't heard anything."
Willow entered the library with Cordelia at her side. They were also discussing Buffy. With an optimism that no one else felt , Willow said "Well, she'll be back, she's the slayer, she has to."
Giles had not been himself since she left. With Jenny gone and now Buffy, he was lost. He was a Watcher without a slayer. Everyone was worried about him. He thought to himself "If only I knew where to look for her."
Giles thought about where Buffy might go and it occured to him "Angel, Angel is the key, maybe she went somewhere Angel was before he came to Sunnydale." Giles assured everyone he was okay and pushed them out of the library. He wanted to do some research.
Giles wasn't sure how many hours had passed before he found what he was looking for. Angel had been in Manhattan before Sunnydale. He wondered "Would Buffy go there?" It was worth a shot.
Xander walked into the library. "Giles can I talk to you?"
"Xander, I am really busy, I am going on a trip, I need to make reservations. What is it that you want?"
"Is it about Buffy? Are you going to find her?" Xander asked excitedly.
"Maybe," said Giles "It's a long shot." He explained to Xander what he had found.
Xander said "I'm going, I owe it to Buffy. I've got some money, I can get a ticket too." Xander and Giles headed off together. Giles knew there was no sense in arguing with the boy. A couple hours later they were at the airport.
Xander and Giles departed the plane and found their way to Manhattan. "Where do we start?" asked Xander. Giles did not have the heart to tell him that he wasn't sure so he just said "Lets get some rest tonight, I booked a hotel for us. We'll get started in the morning."
They got to their hotel and went to bed. In the morning Xander and Giles started walking the streets with Buffys picture in hand asking everyone they met if they had seen this girl. They ran into Anna at the grocery store, she assured them she had not seen the girl. Then she quickly went to warn Buffy.
