Part One

Angel's fist met Buffy's face with a loud "smack." Buffy stumbled backwards a bit and counter attacked with a high kick to his chest. The two had been fighting for nearly a half hour, and neither showed signs of giving up any time soon.
"damn it," Buffy thought, "if only I had left the tranquilizer closer."
Buffy had gotten the gun from Gile's weapon storage and had loaded it with a powerful sedative. Buffy thought it odd that a meek man such as Gile's was able to get such interesting weapons, but, this was the hellmouth.
Angel pounced gracefully over one of the library tables and kicked Buffy, sending here flying backwards.
"You can't win!" snarled Angel.
Buffy ground her teeth. It would be so much easier to just kill this monster. But this monster was in her boyfriend, whom she loved with all her heart and soul.
"I will win! The good and pure always win!" yelled Buffy, throwing a punch. Angel dogged and threw a punch. It caught Buffy in the nose. Buffy felt blood trickle down.
"Well, then you defiantly won't win, you're not very pure anymore, are you?" smirked Angel, "I killed Jenny, I killed that girl you knew, and now I'm going to kill you, and anyone whoever cared about you!"
That was it. The last straw. Using all of her strength, Buffy roundhoused Angel across the room into the cage Giles used to store stuff. Buffy had cleaned it out for this purpose. Hitting the wall inside the cage with a thud, Angel gave a low menacing growl. Grabbing the gun she had hidden under a nearby chair, she aimed it at Angel and fired and hit him in the shoulder with the dart. She quickly slammed the cage door close and locked it.
"You think this will stop me?" yelled Angel as he ripped the dart from his arm. He stood up and stumbled forward, shaking his head as if to clear it.
Buffy went quickly to the main counter and picked up a box from behind it and placed it on a table near the cage.
"Gotta be quick," Buffy thought. Angel was drowsily staring at her, gripping the cage so hard that his already pale knuckles were pure white. He slowly started to sink down as Buffy set up the contents of the box, just as Gile's had shown her to do. Poor Giles, he had lost Jenny to this monster, and now, even after all that he had done, he was helping save Angel…how would things be if this worked?
13 black candles were placed around a pentagram Buffy had made with sand. A white candle stood in the middle and two goblets in the up most cross sections of the pentagram.
"It won't work," hissed Angel, "I killed him! The Angel you knew is dead! You killed him! It was your fault!"
"Maybe I should just kill him," thought Buffy as she lit the candles, "It'll be so hard for him to be around for a long time once he's good if this even works…everything has changed so much...too much…what he did to Jenny, Teresa, tried to kill my friends and me...and who knows how many others," Buffy shook her head, "No, its better this way, one day, things will be okay…"
Turning to face Angel, Buffy saw he was lying in a heap on the floor. Grabbing a dusty old book from the box, she opened to a marked page, took a deep breath and began to read aloud:
In blood we are the same
In blood we are different
evil on good, good in evil
with evil makes good
with good cures evil…
Giles had shown her. He had made sure no one would be in harms way to night. Buffy had do this alone.
