Buffy surveyed her tear-stained face in the mirror. The pain wasn’t getting any easier; it was 3 months since her last encounter with Angel and she hadn’t seen or heard from him since. Sometimes she wished she could rewind time, never love Angel, never sneak through graveyards with their lips constantly fused together while Xander and Willow were only paces away. But she knew that, given the same choice with her current knowledge, she would choose to be with him, now and forever. She muffled a sob, Dawn was asleep in the next room, already worried about what Buffy had been going through, and she couldn’t see this. Buffy lowered her head in her arms on the dresser and dreamed.
Angel’s hands brushed her skin like water flowing through a stream. Shivers engulfed her, and he intertwined his body with hers even closer as to keep her warm. His fingers gently caressed her soft hair, letting it fall through them and write its own story on the blank page that was the pillow. She didn’t know that feelings like these were possible, no matter what she had dreamed it couldn’t compare to the reality that was Angel. In an ironic sort of way, their relationship was the stuff fairytales are made of. Perfect love between two people so obviously meant to be together, excluding the circumstances of course. His lips grazed hers, softly working their way down her neck and interrupting her thoughts. He reached the scar right above her shoulder, the one that he himself had placed there when she had been trying to save him. A shudder went through Buffy as she thought about how close she had come to losing him, losing him, losing him…
Dawn: Buffy? Buffy! Are you ok? Wake up!
Buffy groaned as she awakened from her dreams, the only place that she and Angel shared safely now.
Dawn: You were crying, screaming and raging. You haven’t been like that since…
Since Angel left the last time thought Buffy with venom.
Buffy cut Dawn off.
Buffy: It’s ok, I’m fine. Incredibly stiff but fine.
Dawn: If you wanna talk I’m here, k?
It was an offer that Dawn was making increasingly as the weeks went by, and if she wasn’t careful Buffy knew that she might accept. She gave the usual answer as she headed to the bathroom.
Buffy: No, no, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. What time is it?
Dawn: 10:30. Jillian called and asked if I wanted to go to the mall with her today. That ok?
Buffy: Yeah sure, just be back by 5 ok?
Dawn: Uh huh.
Dawn slips off down the stairs, the expression of concern on her face growing as she quietly exits.
