The midday sun illuminated the abandoned corridors of Sunnydale High. The school had been destroyed when the Mayor had risen and tried to take over the world, Buffy had trapped him in the Library where she had planted masses of TNT. Mayor go boom.
Buffy Summers entered the wreckage and looked around remembering a time when she had been a student here along with her best friends Willow and Xander. Buffy’s watcher, Giles, had conveniently got the job of school librarian and the gang had set up there calling themselves the Scooby Gang. Later two new members joined the very select and surprisingly unpopular club. Cordiela and Oz.
Buffy walked down the corridors looking around at the blackened walls and dirty floor, she knew where she was heading. The Library.
As the slayer entered the room she saw everything that had happened and changed her forever while she had been at the school: Killing the Master, Kendra dying in the face of Drusilla and finally the Mayor exploding and leaving a major mess behind.
Suddenly Buffy fell down where the floor had once been, she got herself to her feet and walked to a small hole in the floor
Buffy put one foot on the edge of the hell mouth, she felt the soft ground crumble beneath her feat. The Slayer looked around at the library and smiled. It was finally over. She could rest now. Buffy readied herself into a diving position.
“Buffy?”
Buffy turned to Dawn and looked at the fear in her eyes, she saw her sister and knew that she would grow up to be something beautiful and strong.
Tears began to fill Dawn’s eyes, “Buffy no.”
Buffy understood what she had to do, she wasn’t scared. Far from it in fact, the Slayer knew that everyone she cared about would be alright. She just knew it.
“Dawnie I have to.”
“Your not supposed to die now, you can’t.” The older Buffy stood a few feat away from Buffy but she could feel the same feelings so clearly. She could see them running through her mind, “If you die now then you’re giving up. You never give up. Thing’s are hard, they always will be. Nothing in this world is easy but that doesn’t mean you give up. You can’t just not care about the world, the Slayer was put on this earth to save it. You can’t just die because some prophecy says you will, if you die now then what will happen to the day your supposed to die in? Nobody lives forever but that doesn’t mean you stop caring, if you don’t give up the world won’t give up.”
Buffy turned to the older image of herself and ran to her crying her heart out, she was so sure it was the right thing to do. It isn’t. You don’t give up.
“I’m with you.” The older Buffy said stroking her sister’s hair, “I’ll always be with you.”
The two Buffy’s stepped out into the night, the younger Buffy had so much to ask. The older Buffy had so much to remember. From the sky came a rain of fire, demon’s came from the earth and from the sky but Buffy wasn’t scared. She would live.
