They drove for a couple of hours. At first, Buffy had no idea where she was going to go. Then, while she was headed East, she suddenly backtracked, and headed North – to LA. She knew that if she could find Angel, he would be able to help her. She arrived in LA at around 8 A.M. Buffy began to drive around LA, just trying to use her ‘Slayer sense’ to find Angel. She could sense a lot of vampires, and demons, but she knew that she would find Angel. She and Angel had this connection, and she knew that she would always be able to find him. However, she was having a hard time because of all the conflicting emotions inside her. She decided that she would park, and she and the kids would walk around for a while.
By the time Buffy parked the car, it was well after 9 in the morning, and the kids were hungry. Buffy had them change in the car, and then they went to the restaurant across the street from their car for some breakfast. They sat down in a booth, and waited for the waitress. As they were waiting, many people were coming in to have a late breakfast. As Buffy and the kids were looking down at their menus, Buffy felt someone come to the table. Assuming it was their waitress, Buffy immediately began to place their order. “Okay, we’d like one special, and – “ “Buffy?” Buffy’s head came up, and she gasped. Standing before her was Angel. “Angel?” Buffy immediately stood up, and Angel wrapped his arms around her. Buffy laid her head on his chest, and received the shock of her life; Buffy heard Angel’s heart beating. “Angel, you’re alive!” “One thing at a time,” Angel said, “What are you doing in LA?” “Now’s not really a good time,” Buffy said. Angel looked at her kids, and nodded. “Why don’t we go to my place? You guys can have breakfast, and we can talk.” Buffy nodded, and they all went outside. Buffy and her kids got into their car, and followed Angel to his apartment.
When Buffy entered the apartment, she was surprised to find Wesley standing there. “Hey Wesley,” Buffy said. Wesley smiled. “Why don’t I take the kids into the living room, and we’ll watch some cartoons,” Wesley said. At the word ‘cartoons,’ the kids immediately perked up, and followed Wesley into the living room. Angel and Buffy were left alone in the kitchen to talk. “So, you’re married, with kids,” Angel said. “It’s so much more than that,” Buffy said. “Tell me,” Angel said. Buffy took one look at the love in his eyes, and the words just came out. “Well, I married this man that I met my freshman year in college. Riley Finn – I thought he was an All-American normal Iowa-bred boy. He turned out to be a member of a secret military organization that was trying to harness the power of demons. He loved the fact that I was the Slayer. Yes, was the Slayer. I was able to retire, and keep all my Slayer powers. When we returned from our honeymoon, I was already pregnant with our first child, Liam.” Angel was a little shocked when he heard what Buffy had named her son. Buffy continued, “That first night home, I was late with dinner, and he hit me. He didn’t hit my stomach, and the bruise on my face was gone by the next day. He was very apologetic, and promised he would never do it again. Things were okay for a while. Liam was born, and it started up again. Then, when Liam was about 2 ½, I became pregnant with Janna. Riley never hit me while I was pregnant with Janna, but he started again after her birth. Liam is now 5, and Janna is 2.” Angel sighed. He had hoped that Buffy would have a good life, not one filled with fear. “I want to help,” Angel said. “Well, when Riley wakes up from his stupor, he will find divorce papers, and a restraining order.” “Color me stunned,” Angel said. “Well, I’ve seen the movie ‘Enough,’ I can handle myself. Riley won’t be able to be in the same city as me, or my children.” “Why are you here then?” “Because I love you,” Buffy said. “I love you too,” Angel replied.
