Part 1:
She slowly walked over to the bed, and looked down on his face. When he was sleeping, he looked like he wouldn’t hurt a fly. But, that first day after the honeymoon, she found out that he could, and would, hurt her. She hadn’t had dinner ready exactly on time, and he had hit her. He was careful not to hit her stomach, because she was pregnant with their first child. He immediately apologized, and promised that he would never do it again. The next day, he had come home with a beautiful pearl necklace, and she forgave him easily.

But now, Buffy stared down with hate and loathing. Riley Finn had become evil in its purest form. He hadn’t turned into a demon; he had become man who hated his wife. He had said so enough times. Buffy had contacted the Watcher’s Council through Giles, and had them call another Slayer. She told them that she deserved to ‘retire.’ She still retained her strength, speed, fighting skill, and fast healing. The fast healing helped make sure that nobody saw that she had been beaten. Riley told Buffy that she was a bad mother to their son and daughter, Liam and Janna. He said that she was worthless, and that being a Slayer meant nothing. “One person couldn’t change the world,” he’d said. But the thing he hated the most was the fact that most of her heart still belonged to Angel.

Five years had passed since the wedding. Everyone had moved on. Xander and Anya were happily married, and living in Paris, where Xander was a very famous artist. Willow and Tara had moved to Vermont, and were happily married. They had their own magic shop, and Tara was expecting a child. Giles was back in England, and was living happily in Bath. Buffy’s mom Joyce was still living in Sunnydale, in fact, she was living just minutes away from Buffy and Riley.

Buffy quickly walked to Liam’s room. Liam was five now, and would hopefully understand. Buffy quietly woke Liam up. “Mommy?” Liam asked. “Liam, sweetie, you need to get up.” “Why?” “We’re going to go on a trip. We need to be very quiet, okay?” Liam nodded, and immediately grabbed his teddy bear and blanket. Buffy then went pulled two-year-old Janna out of her bed, grabbed her teddy bear and blanket, and then went to the garage. She had planned all of this very carefully. She had emptied out her separate account that day. This gave her a little over $2,000, saved from much scrimping and saving, with which to use in her escape. She had also gone secretly to a lawyer, and had drawn up divorce papers, and sworn affidavits telling of the physical and mental abuse Riley had put her through. She put the divorce papers, and a copy of a restraining order on the kitchen table. She had also packed up most of her children’s clothes, and had put the suitcases in the trunk of the car. Now, all she had to do was put the children in the car, and drive.
