Willow sat at her desk tinkering with her computer. She was looking for a special root on the internet and was frustrated because she couldn’t find it. She spun in her swivel chair when her phone rang.
“Hello, Rosenberg residents.” She said politely, but impatient.
“Willow, it’s me Buffy’s mom.” Willow was surprised to hear Mrs. Summer’s voice on the line. She had never gotten a call from her before.
“Um, hi. Is everything alright?” Willow asked suddenly worrying about Buffy.
Joyce instantly confirmed Willow’s worst suspicion. “ Actually yes. I hate to bother you so late, especially on a school night but I’m horribly worried about Buffy. Have you noticed anything odd lately? I mean besides this Angel thing.”
Willow took a few seconds to think. She had noticed something about Buffy for the last two weeks, but had attributed it to Angel problems. Buffy does have a lot on her plate, but there has been something else, Willow thought before speaking. “ I have been worrying about her lately. What have you noticed?”
“ A lot. Buffy hasn’t been eating well. She wonders around the house like a zombie. She complains of headaches daily, and has been getting a ton of nose bleeds.” Joyce said listing the symptoms.
Willow was surprised, she hadn’t really been worrying about any of that! Now that she thought about she knew Joyce was right. “ I can’t believe I didn’t notice any of that.” She said feeling guilty. “ Is Buffy there now?” She asked planning to apologize right away for ignoring her friend’s condition.
“ Actually, that’s what I was calling you about, I just wanted to bring up my concerns on the side. Buffy’s not home, I went up to check on her a few minutes ago and she's gone.”
Willow glanced at her digital calock and gasped. 3:30a.m blinked back at her. “ I’ll call the gang and see if anyone’s seen her, then I’ll call you back.” Willow said wasting no time. She hung up and began to dial Gile’s phone number.

Angel walked up the stairs exhausted. He had spent the last four hours looking for Buffy. He had been following her for months, protecting from afar, but tonight she had been no where to find. It was hard for him to watch and not be able to interact with Buffy and her group, but he knew Buffy did not need him as another distraction, and the group wanted nothing to do with him. So he did all he could without letting her see him.

I hope she’s ok, Angel thought letting himself into his “mansion”. He was surprised to find the lights on, and immediately sharpened his senses. Someone had been there but he couldn’t tell if they were still there. Quietly, he gave a look around his front room then headed for his bedroom.
At first all he saw was his rumples sheets on his bed, then he glanced down and saw Buffy collapsed on his floor. He hesitated a half a second then sprinted toward her landing on his knees beside her. He gently turned her over and was startled at her stark, pale face.
She looks like me, he thought checking for a pulse. Buffy’s eyes fluttered open and grew wide. Angel instantly noticed the milky white film coating her iris.
“Buffy? Can you hear me?” Angel asked panicking. He watched Buffy’s face light up with recognition then fear.
“ Angel is that you? I can’t see. I killed you.” Buffy said beginning to sob. Her face crumpled in pain. Angel gathered her in his hands. He could feel his own fear tightening his chest.
What did this? Is it magic? Angel asked himself. Out loud he whispered comforting words to a pain wracked Buffy. “ It’s okay, baby. Don’t worry I’m going to save you.” He thought hard then one face came to his mind: Willow.

Willow placed her head in her hands worriedly. She had just got off the phone with Oz, who had told her about his little midnight visit to Buffy. Pangs of guilt made her feel a little bit nauseous. She had found Oz unwilling to tell Willow what he and Buffy had talked about.
Willow recalled his words. “Willow, I’m sorry but this is one thing that is going to stay between me and Buffy. I’ll go out and look for her though.”
Willow had reluctantly given up, with a vow to talk to Buffy as soon as they found her. She raised her head up and looked at the phone when it rang, before picking it up. “Hello?”
“Willow?”
It took Willow a second to recognize the voice. “Angel!”
“ Listen there’s a big problem. Buffy’s here with me and something’s wrong.” Angel said, his voice strained by worry.
“ I’ll be right over.” Willow replied, refraining from asking questions.
Angel paused then whispered words that instilled cold fear in Willow. “ I think you should meet me at the hospital. Get everyone together and get them to the hospital as soon as possible.”
“ Okay.” Willow said hanging up the phone and letting the tears of fear run down her cheeks.
Please god, don’t do this, she prayed dialing another phone number………
