Faith had tied Angel to a chair in the mayor's office. The mayor was
obviously thrilled at how the plan was unfolding. He kept praising
Faith, who was milking it for all it was worth. It was discusting.
The mayor half treated her like his child, and half like his lover.
"So, why separate me?" he asked. Anything to stop the two of them
from acting like that!
"What do you think boss?" asked Faith. "Should we tell him?"
"I don't see the harm," answered the mayor. He looked over at Angel.
"On the off chance your girlfriend manages to save your friends,
we wanted a little insurance."
"So I'm your hostage?"
"Thats pretty much the idea."
Just then something broke through the window and landed on the floor.
Before anyone could react, smoke started ozing from it, and the smell of
chloroform filled the room. Faith and the mayor quickly became
unconcious. Angel was, of course, unaffected. A moment later, Buffy,
Willow, and Cordelia broke into the room. All had scarves tied over
their noses and mouthes. Buffy made short work of Angel's bindings,
and they all ran into the hall. The girls all leaned agains't the
wall for a few seconds, catching their breathes.
"I don't believe you made a smoke bomb, Will!" Buffy exclaimed.
"Yeah, I guess you really can find anything on the internet," she
replied.
"Are you okay?" Buffy asked Angel.
"I'll live," he answered, smiling slightly.
"Ha ha," she said. They began to kiss very passionatly. Eventually,
Willow cleared her throat.
"Um, the others," she pointed out. Buffy and Angel separated.
"Oh, yeah," he replied. "Follow me." Angel put his arm around Buffy
as the four of them walked down the hall to rescue their friends.
