Buffy slammed the book shut loudly enough to gain everybodies attention.
Giles almost spilled he tea, while Xander snapped awake with a 'Guah!'
"Nothing about the assention in hear," Buffy said. She was exausted,
They all were. "I need to go to the bathroom."
"Coming," said Willow, closing her book too.
"Whatever," added Cordelia, gazing at Wesley as she stood and streched.
The three girls trooped into the hallway, shutting the door behind them.
The four males in the room stared after them for several seconds.
Wesley broke the silence.
"Why is it that women always go to the bathroom in a group? It's absurd!"
"Nobody knows why," answered Oz. "It is a mystery to all."
This would normally be the moment for one of Xander's wisecracks,
but he was to exausted to think of one. The all went back to work.
maybe three seconds later, it happened.
There was suddenly the sound of glass breaking as the skylight shattered
above them. Five vampires entered through the hole in the celing,
as chaos began to rein in the library. Two of the vamps quickly covered
Wesley and Giles's mouthes with chloroformed rags, sending them both into
unconsciousness.Another tried to do the same to Xander, who fended
off the rag, only to be knocked out by the backhanded slap of an angry vampire.
Oz had bent over to pick up a pencil just before the ambush started,
so he had the advantage of being under the table. He also had the
disadvantage of having to fend off two vampires. This was not a fair
fight, and while Oz expected to be knocked out or killed, they simply
held him. Just then, Faith jumped into the room from the now gaping
whole in the celing.
"That was too easy," she said smugly
"Faith," a startled Oz managed to gasp out as he struggled with
his captors.
Just then, they heard footsteps coming out of the stacks. Quickly,
Faith grabbed Oz from the two vamps and held a knife to his throat.
"Buffy, I think I..." Angel stopped in mid sentance as he came out
of the stacks and survayed the scene around him.
"Don't move," ordered Faith sharply, tightning her grip on Oz,
who let out a slight gasp. "Wel well well Angel. You just saved me a
trip to your place."
With a slight head gesture, she had one of the remaining vamps walk over
and grab Angel, who made no move to resist. Faith then shoved Oz
into the arms of the last vamp, dropped a cruppled note on the table,
then lead out her troops, each with one hostage. No one noticed that
Angel had slipped off his claddah ring and dropped it on the floor.
Soon, the room was again silent.
