Part Three

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Xander?" Xander opened his eyes and saw a bright white light. It took him a second to figure out where he was and who was saying his name.

"Buffy?" He asked weakly in disbelief. Was he having another dream? No, this was too real.

"Yeah, it’s me, I’m here."

"But-how? Why-I" He tried to lift his head, but he couldn’t

"Shhh! When I found out you were hurt, I came as soon as I could."

"Who brought me here?"

"I did." Giles stepped out into the light. "I think we should have given you more of a chance to explain yourself, so I went after you in my car. And it’s a good thing to. Heaven knows what could have happened."

"Explain what? What did you do?" Buffy said.

Just then, all of the pain returned to his eyes and a lump formed in his throat. "Buffy, I’ve done something really bad, something horrible to you." Buffy didn’t say anything so he went on. "You remember when I came to you and told you that Willow said to kick Angel’s ass?" Buffy still had no emotion in her face. "Well, I was supposed to tell you that Willow was doing the spell, to get Angels soul back. But I didn’t-"

"Stop," Buffy was in tears now, "Just stop. I can’t believe this could have happened."

"Buffy, God, if you knew how I feel right now-"

"It’s okay, Xander, it’s okay." Xander looked suprised, "It’s not your fault, I should have had the strength earlier."

"Man, I wish Willow believed me. She hates me, and she has no idea how much I love her, God I can’t live without her. She’s my best friend, I just can’t…" His voice trailed off as Willow stepped into the room. "Did you…?"

"I heard it all. I’m sorry" She said. Her voice broke a little.

"No, I’m sorry, this is totally my fault, I just, don’t want to lose you guys, and I thought I was helping everyone. I’m so stupid."

"No you’re not. Don’t say that." Buffy said.

"Why are you forgiving me? After everything, I mean, don’t get me wrong here, but why?"

"Because I would have lost Angel either way, I don’t want to lose you too." Buffy gave Xander a soft kiss on the forehead and squeezed his hand.

"Thank you, thank you so much." He said Buffy walked off and Giles followed her, leaving Xander and Willow alone in the room.

"Xander I had no idea that you brought me back, I thought it was Oz." Willow said stepping forward.

"It’s okay, I just, man, I felt so bad when you were in the hospital, I was so afraid, that you wouldn’t…that you wouldn’t make it." Xander said. "Willow…I, love you."

Willow had a look of shock on her face, "I love you too."

"Come closer," He said. Willow stepped forward, and leaned towards him. Xander sat up and started kissing her. Willow pulled away at first, but then she too closed her eyes and kissed him back.

Xander knew he didn’t deserve her, Buffy, or Cordy, but he was taking what he should have taken a long time ago.
