Part Nine

It was time. Buffy lay sprawled on her bed. She knew it was time for her to confront the others. She had to make her peace with them and the past. She had made peace with her past with Angel, it had been hard but she had done it. And now, she had to make her peace with her friends. Buffy knew that they would be at the Bronze. She also knew that there was a big dance gig there. Oz's band would be playing. Willow would be there. And so would Cordelia with Xander.
Buffy got off her bed and opened her closet. Her mother had bought her a beautiful dress recently. Joyce had somehow known that Buffy would go to the formal dance. After all, she had known when Buffy had gone to the Spring Fling. It was a calf length sleeveless dress. It had spagetti straps. The dress itself was this dark plum.
Buffy put on the dress and put her hair up in a bun. She put on her black boots. And she looked in the mirror. This was the Buffy people were used to seeing. It was good that she at least looked like her old self. But in a way she didn't. There was something different in her eyes. Something very peaceful.
She grabbed her black jacket and began to leave her room but something stopped her. She was forgetting something. She walked back to her drawers. On top of them was the small silver cross that she had bought awhile ago. It was her "good luck charm". She picked it up in her hand and just stared at it.
She had always been fascinated by how the power of the cross scared vampires. It was a powerful idol. God only knew how many times it had saved her neck. Buffy kissed the center of the cross and placed it around her neck.
