Part Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When Angelus had finally gone to sleep, Buffy snuck out once again. She went to the park, lifted the small child out of the tunnel, and went to her house. She climbed through her bedroom window and laid the child on her bed. Buffy went down stairs to try and find something to eat for herself and the kid. She came back up and the kid had woken. She smiled.

* "Here you go, just how you like it, peanut butter and jelly sandwich with extra jelly and pineapple and orange juice, three quarters pineapple one quarter orange," Joyce said as Buffy commented, "That's three quarter orange and one quarter pineapple, go and change it please…" *

"Are you my friend?" the child asked.

"I guess you could say that, now eat up and rest well. I'm gonna leave you here, but I'll be back every morning at 10. If you get hungry just help yourself to the pantry, ok," Buffy said as she closed the door behind her. Quietly she heard the girl say 'Thank-you'.

Buffy walked around and came past her school. But she didn't know it was her school. *

Buffy and Willow were sitting on the bench talking.

"I don't wanna be the only girl in school without a boyfriend," Willow said as she received a sly look from Buffy.

"Omigod, I'm such an idiot. I'll leave now, I'm not a respectable friend," Willow said.

"No it's ok, it's good having you as a friend, and someone I can talk to about Angel…" Buffy said. *

Buffy gave a last glance at the school before leaving to go back to the mansion.

Angelus stirred and saw Buffy sitting on the bed. He got up and went to get a shirt. Buffy turned around and saw Angelus' back.

* As Buffy turned around to fix Angel up, she saw his tattoo. "Nice tattoo," Buffy said as she went to bandage Angel's wound. *

"Angel, have I seen your tattoo before?" Buffy asked coming over to him. Angelus shrugged off her question before putting his shirt on. He walked over to Buffy, kissed her lightly on the cheek, and stroked her hair.

Dru knocked on the door and came in.

"Is this my surprise? You brought me the slayer, ooh Angel," Dru said as she ran up to kiss him, but he pushed her aside.

"Can I play with her?" Dru asked tilting her head.

"No you can't Dru, she's mine, now go and run along to dear Spikey," Angelus said as Dru moaned and backed slowly out the door.

"Why did you do that?" Buffy asked.

"She's crazy Buff, I don't want her to go near you," Angelus said kissing Buffy and walking her out to have fun.

Buffy and Angelus arrived at the Bronze and went in. Buffy had changed her pedal pushers into a mini black skirt with a floor length jacket. Angelus led Buffy as they danced on the dance floor.

To look but not to see
To kiss but never be
The object of your desire
I'm walking on a wire
And there's no one at all
To break my fall
- To Have And Not To Told, Madonna

Angelus and Buffy slowly danced, with hardly any space between them.

Willow and Giles entered the Bronze, searching for Buffy. Willow saw Buffy and Angelus dancing and called Giles. Angelus saw them and led Buffy off the dance floor. Willow quickly tried to get to Buffy, but the crowd wouldn't let her through.

"Buffy!" Willow yelled as Buffy turned around to see Willow.

* "Give Buffy a message for me," Angelus said holding Willow's neck.

"Why don't you tell me yourself," Buffy said at the door.

"It's not the kind of message you tell. It's the kind where you find the dead body's of your friends," Angelus said.

"Let her go, deal with me" Buffy said.

"But she's so cute, and helpless. Such a turn on," Angelus.

"There must be some part of you who remembers who you are?" Buffy said.

"Dream on school girl, your boyfriend is dead," Angelus taunted as Xander snuck up behind him with a cross. He surprised Angelus by holding it in front of his face as he dropped Willow and reeled back. As he was walking out, he grabbed Buffy, said, "Things are going to get very interesting," as he kissed her roughly and slammed her against the wall. *

Buffy snapped out of her daze and tried to run to Willow. Angelus grabbed Buffy around the waist and pulled her back while snarling at Willow.

Giles had caught up to Willow only to be knocked down by the lead singer surfing the crowd. Willow looked down at him and helped him up before running to the fire door where Buffy and Angelus had just ran out of.

It was raining hard and Willow couldn't see them anywhere she sighed and went back inside.

Buffy threw Angelus' hand off of her and turned to face him in the ally.

"Who are you," Buffy demanded.

"You know who I am," Angelus said stooping to look at her.

"Do I? Because for some reason, I'm having flash back's of you trying to kill my friends!" Buffy said.

"I'm your friend," Angelus said.

"No you're not. Neither is that maniac in the red dress, maybe Spike, he seems to be the only one telling me the truth," Buffy said.

"What did he tell you?" Angelus said angry.

"He told me that you were vampires, that I had some power that gave me strength, that you were my ex. And that you and Dru weren't my real friends. You found me and took me here because I couldn't remember who I was," Buffy said.

"That's not true," Angelus tried.

"Then what is?" Buffy said.

"You're in love with me Buff, you always will be, and you can't do anything to stop it," Angelus said.

* Buffy entered the jewellery section of the mall, wiping the water out of her eyes that was coming from a sprinkler in the ceiling. All of a sudden Angelus hit her against the wall and punched her. Buffy tried to attack him but he got the better of her. He kicked her in the head and punched her so that she landed on the floor.

"Come on Buff, you know you want it," Angelus tormented. Buffy stood up kicked him, grabbed his head, smashed it through the glass then up through the steel frame. Then she threw him back against the coke machine. She pulled out her stake, but paused.

"You can't do it, you can't kill me," Angelus teased. Buffy brought her leg back and gave him a wickered kick to the groin. He doubled over and yelped in pain. Buffy turned around and said, "Give me time." *

"You tried to kill me," Buffy said in realisation.

"Where are you getting this from?" Angelus asked, the water dripping off his face.

"You said I wanted it, but I don't," Buffy said going to walk away from him. But he caught her arm and she knocked him to the ground, got on top of him and made a stabbing motion at his heart. Then she realised that she didn't have a stake, and that she didn't mean to do what she just did.

"Why would my reaction be to stake you, what was I?" Buffy asked confused.

"You were a confused school girl," Angelus said. Buffy said about to get off him. Angelus saw this, sat up and kissed her. Buffy was thrown off guard and sat there stunned. Buffy leaned forward and rested against his chest as Angelus put his arm around her and smiled slyly. They started walking back to the mansion.

"Giles what are we going to do? We have got no idea where Angel lives now and sunlight is coming soon so we can't go looking for them." Willow said looking at a worried Giles up on the mezzanine section of the library.

"Why don't we go past her house and see if there are any signs of movement," Giles said to Willow as he started to walk down the stairs and out of the library.

"Well you do that I have to be getting up in 2 hours and I'm meant to be asleep in my bed at the moment…so I better be going home now," Willow said half asleep and following Giles out the door.

Buffy waited till Angelus was asleep and everything was quiet down stairs before she started to search around the bedroom.

"I don't know what I'm looking for but I know there's something not right about this place," Buffy whispered to herself as she opened a drawer in the dresser. As she was rummaging though she find a silver bracelet. She picked up the bracelet…

* Buffy snatched the bracelet from his grasp and gently admired it.

"Pretty," she said. "What's it for, or should I say, who's it for?" Buffy said gazing up at him adoringly, trying to persuade him to give it to her. Giles went to snatch it back out of her hand, but Buffy was that little bit quicker.

"If you must know, it's yours, you passed your training exam and that is your prize," he said. Buffy was about to put it on when she was brought to the ground by a blow to the head. She shook her head to clear her vision and said, "This isn't a good time to mess with me pal, I just received my slaying bracelet, it's right here…somewhere, but I do have it, just not right now." *

"Slayer…Oh, I'm supposed to kill him," Buffy said as she walked out of the mansion. "I've just got to remember how to kill him."

Buffy climbed though her bedroom window and saw the sleeping child on her bed. She walked quietly over to her dresser and opened up her draws. She heard movement from behind her grabbed a stake (out of impulse) from her draw and turned around to face the child. The child jumped back in fright and stared at the stake. Buffy looked at the scared child and lowered the stake.

"Sorry…I've got these weird reflexes…I don't know why…it's just weird," Buffy said placing the stake up her sleeve. Suddenly, Buffy heard a growl outside and went to the window to see what was happening. Buffy opened the window and looked around, but she saw nothing. Suddenly, a vampire reached through the window and pulled her out. Surprisingly to Buffy, she landed on her feet.

"I could get used to this," Buffy said casually standing up to see where the vamp had gone. She felt something push her from behind, even though it was a hard push she hardly moved.

Buffy turned around to see the vamp standing behind her. The vamp tried to push her down again, but he failed.

"I'm sorry, I'm afraid that you're gonna have to wait your turn. Gee, look at that, I think your turn is now," Buffy said throwing the stake directly into his heart. The vampire stared at her in shock before exploding into to ash.

* Flashbacks of every single time Buffy had ever staked a vampire whirled through her head. But they stopped, and one staking played slowly in her head. Before the vampire could strike again, she made a ground kick at his ankle and knocked him off his feet. Buffy swiftly whipped out her stake and made a quick thrust to his heart. As he exploded, Buffy stood up and spat out the small particles of ash that had somehow got into her mouth. All the while, Giles had been crawling on the ground searching for Buffy's bracelet after he had seen it fall. Buffy came over and stood tapping her foot in front of him with an out stretched hand. Giles pulled out some grass and placed it into Buffy's hand, smiling. Buffy let the grass fall through her fingers and placed her hands on her hips.

"Funny. Where's my bracelet?" she said matter-of-factly. *

Buffy steadied herself, and for the first time she had more of an idea of who she was.

"I slay vampires, sounds like fun. Hey, I help humanity, that could be good, I guess," Buffy said looking back up to her window. The child was looking down at her, and as a bright light surrounded her she disappeared.

"Ok, that was weird," Buffy said as she went back inside to call Willow.

Dru whirled around the garden, laughing gleefully. She stopped and put a hand up to her forehead.

"Ooh, Angel. I see the slayer, she's in danger, she needs you, she's drowning," Dru said as Angelus stormed out the door.

"Hi Will, it's me, I haven't been myself lately, sorry about that. Anyway, I'm going to school, to finally kill Angel; I'll see ya later and fill you in on the details. Say hi to the G-man for me, love ya, bye," Buffy said hanging up the receiver. She grabbed a nearby crossbow and headed towards the school. For some reason she knew Angel would be there. But unbeknownst to her, another of her foes would be meeting her there.

Buffy opened the doors to the school swimming pool arena. It was quiet and eerie. The hairs on the back of her neck were prickling. She could sense someone, and it wasn't Angel.

"Who's here? Show yourself, please? I'm being polite here. Fine, be that way, you do realise that I'm a slayer. I'm dangerous you know, don't you?" Buffy said cautiously rounding a corner. The crossbow was kicked out of her hands.

"Ok, that wasn't supposed to happen. Why did it happen, did I screw up?" Buffy said as she saw who had taken her cross bow.

"Whoa, aren't you a pretty picture. You obviously failed the beauty section of life," Buffy said.

* "My, aren't you a pretty little devil, not," Buffy said taking out her stake. "I don't know what you are, but I think I have to slay you. Then again, the only excuse I have to slay you is that you're butt ugly," Buffy said backing away. At that moment he thrust his hands towards the ground as a red light emanated from them. The ground mutated into a steep cliff-side with protruding tombstones everywhere. *

"Hey, I know you. You tried to kill me. That wasn't a good idea, I'm really angry about that," Buffy said kicking him in the stomach. He buckled over and dropped the crossbow.

"Thank-you, I really needed this," Buffy whispered as she went to shoot him but he kicked it back out of her hands.

"Aw, why did you do that for? I just got it back. Now how am I going to kill you?" Buffy whined as Raeth Daemos picked himself up. Angelus busted through the doors and saw Buffy fighting the earth demon.

"Hi Honey, I'll be with you in a minute, I gotta kill this…thing first," Buffy said turning around to be punched in the head by Raeth Daemos.

"Ow, that hurt you know," Buffy said tripping him up. He quickly got up and thrust his hands towards the ground.

"Oh no, you're not gonna pull that trick again," Buffy said spin kicking him into the pool. Raeth Daemos let out a shrill scream, as he slowly dissolved into the water. Buffy dusted her hands and spun around to face Angelus.

"Now, it's your turn," Buffy said throwing him into the pool. Angelus surfaced and ran his hands through his hair.

"Okay, why aren't you melting like that old guy did?" Buffy asked confused as Angelus swum over to the side of the pool.

"Well why don't you dive in and find out," Angelus said as he grabbed her feet and pulled her into the water. Buffy came up and spat out some muddy water.

"Yuck much," Buffy said splashing Angelus. Angelus splashed her back and dived under the water to pull her feet under.

"Alright, I have to remind myself that I'm here to kill you, not to play. So not to play," Buffy said as Angelus scrunched up his face.

"What?" he said confused.

"I'm sorry sweetie, I have to kill you, I hope you'll understand," Buffy said swimming to the edge to get out. But Angelus grabbed her waist and pulled her back in. He was going to make sure she didn't grab the crossbow.

"Hey," Buffy said trying to kick him. But he lurched backwards and she missed.

"This is going to be harder than I thought," Buffy said jumping on Angelus' back. They both went under the water. As they struggled to get to the surface, Buffy hit her head on the bottom of the pool. As Angelus surfaced Buffy continued sinking. He dived under and pulled her out. He got out of the pool and dragged her out of the water. He checked her pulse, she wasn't breathing. Suddenly Willow and Giles burst through the doors. Angelus took off and ran back to the mansion. Willow knelt next to Buffy and checked her pulse. She told Giles to get down and help her perform CPR on Buffy.

"I am not giving her mouth to mouth," Giles said.

"Fine, I'll do it," Willow said bending over to give Buffy mouth to mouth. Buffy's eyes shot open a she spat out the mouthful of water.

"Are you ok?" Willow asked.

"I'm fine, where am I?" Buffy asked looking around.

"You're in the pool, do you remember who you are?" Willow asked.

"Yes, I just can't remember what just happened. The last thing I recall is being thrown down a Cliffside where I hit my head," Buffy said getting up.

"So you don't remember the whole Angel thing?" Willow asked.

"Angel thing? What Angel thing?" Buffy said.

"Oh, no Angel thing. Did I say Angel thing? I meant hair gel thing, you know the…of course you don't, silly me," Willow said a she shied away.

"I think it's best we get you home," Giles said holding her elbow for support.

"Oh Giles, you still owe me my slaying bracelet," Buffy said.

"Wha...you just said you didn't remember anything?" Giles said.

"Yeah I know, but the bracelet thing was before the Raeth Daemos guy," Buffy said as Giles muttered the word 'typical' under his breath.

"I heard that," Buffy said as the three of them left the school ground.

In the shadows, Angel reached into his pocket and pulled out the silver chain.

"At least I still remember what happened," Angelus said walking home alone again.
