Part One

Her brown hair cascaded down her shoulders, in a seemingly endless waterfall of chestnut tresses. She entered the smoky, dimly lit hangout with an air of dignity. She glanced around and saw all types of people mixing together, in a large, noisy mass. Anybody could enter the club, but it still somehow remained the cool place to hang out at.
A quick glance around the room reveled a band on stage, that was trying hard to keep up with the lead guitar. He was excellent and could probably end up in the rock hall of fame, if he really tried. A quick glance around the room also revealed that there were more than just teenagers in the tightly packed club. There were also vampires.

Xander Harris wondered. He had just returned from the juice bar with his pineapple juice and he nearly tripped over his shoelaces as he saw the most beautiful he had ever seen, enter the Bronze.
"Hey, watch it, Xander" Buffy exclaimed, as she bumped into her apparently stupefied at the moment friend.
"Uh, sorry" Xander quickly found his seat, at their table and continued gazing at the Aphrodite.
"What's wrong with you?" Willow asked, waving her small hand in front of his face, as he apparently stared off into nothing.
"Nothing" Xander continued staring.
Willow and Buffy looked at each other and exchanged a look of ‘What's his deal?' The girls had learned to live with the strangeness of their best bud. He, being male, occasionally lost all logically reasoning and would act as if he was just hit over the head with a frying pan.
The three friends had been together for about a year, when Buffy had moved from LA. Xander and Willow had been friends since they had been very young. Willow secretly worshiped Xander. He was her shaggy haired Adonis, but nobody, except for Buffy knew of her secret affections.
Her love for him would always be unrequited, she feared. Xander loved Buffy, and the one time Willow and Xander had almost kissed a vampire had attacked. They never spoke about their near kiss again and Willow was starting to loss hope for a romance with Xander.
"Hello! Space cadet Harris!" Buffy said, imitating Willow's previous actions, by waving her hand in front of his face.
"I'm fine" Xander snapped back to reality as the dark haired beauty entered into a crowed and he lost his view of her.
"Sure you are" Willow joked "Did you find a hot babe, or something?" Willow teased.
"Babe? There's no babe" Xander's face brightened, as he tried to hide his embarrassment.
"Yeah, I know that ‘dumb struck hot babe' vacant expression, when I see it" Buffy said matter of factly.
"Hey Willow let's dance" Xander grabbed the small hacker's hand, before she could protest. They reached the dance floor as a slow song started playing.
< I can live with this > Willow thought, as Xander took her in his arms and they began to dance.
She looked up at him and saw he was looking over her at another person, with that lovelorn puppy look again. Willow realized.
Willow turned her head and she saw the object of Xander's affections. She had wavy brown hair and was wearing a killer deep green dress that was almost as skimpy as some of Buffy's trademark outfits. There were other girls standing there, but Willow knew this was the one that he was drooling over.
Willow, being a kind and considerate person, finished the dance with Xander, so that he could continue to stare at the mystery girl.
"Um, Xander, I'm going to sit down know" Willow said, as the last cord on the guitar faded.
"Sure" was all that Xander replied. He was off in his own little world.
Willow sulked back to the table to find a smiling Buffy. "So you guys danced! Did anything happen?" Buffy asked excitedly.
"He just wanted to get a better view of some girl" Willow sighed "I'm going to go home now. I'm not really in a ‘sit and watch Xander drool over another girl, while he stomps all over my heart, without even realizing it' mood" With that the slight hacker left the Bronze.
Xander was barely even fazed by the abrupt way in which his friend left the dance floor. He kept his eyes on the beautiful brunette girl. He decided to talk to her and he made his way, through the crowd, to where she was.
As he was about to advance upon her she turned and headed for the exit door. Xander then turned to follow her.
"Stop undead scum sucker!" the Brunette charged at a vicious looking vampire, who dropped his potential diner. The blonde teenager the Vampire had captured quickly turned and ran.
"What are you gonna do? Your nothing. I could snap you like a twig" the Vampire snarled. He was pissed, having lost his meal.
"Your wrong. I'm gonna snap you with a twig" she produced a stake and the Vampire charged her.
"Look out!" Xander ran and pushed the girl out of the way.
"What the Hell do you think your doing?" The girl recovered and took her fighting stance.
"He's a vampire" Xander said, as he picked up a trash can lid and banged the Vampire on the head. The Vampire staggered backwards, but charged again.
"I know tapioca for brains" The girl kicked the Vampire and easily staked him, before he could even fall to the ground.
"Who are you?" Xander asked breathlessly "Are you a slayer? ‘Cause we've already got wanna those"
"Who you?" the girl laughed.
"No" Xander said sarcastically "A slayer's always a girl, everybody knows that"
"No. I'm not a Slayer" The girl replied "I sorta fight Vampires as an extra circular activity. Sort of a self proclaimed Slayer" She brushed the dust off of her outfit and looked up at him. He was handsome, a cross between Gilligan and Tom Cruise. His eyes were dark, but playful, like a five year old with a secret.
"You kill them for fun?" He asked in disbelief.
"Not fun. Revenge. Vampires killed my parents when I was seven. I saw them die" She looked away from him. She had no idea as to way she was telling him this, but something about him told her that he could be trusted.
"Nobody believed me. They thought I made it up because it was hard on me to see my parents die. The cops said it was a gang thing. We were living in New York"
She took a deep breath and continued "I went to live with my Uncle and begged him to let me take every type of self defense class I could think of. He thought it was just because I always wanted to be protected so that I wouldn't die, like my parents did. He didn't know that it was because I had begun to research Vampires, and how to kill them. I even found a Slayer's handbook."
"My Uncle got transferred out here, so I came with , since he's my only family. Since we could live anywhere in California I convinced him to move here since I found out that there was a Hell Mouth in SunnyDale. I thought there would be plenty of Vamps that I could kick into dust" She looked up at the boy infront of her.
"Whoa, that's a ... some life story you got there" He ran his hand through his hair " I caught everything but your name"
"That's because I didn't give it. I'm Diana"
