Don't worry , it'll play out. Um, I forget what happened to Acathla, but pretend it's still at the mansion. Oh, and this is kinda like What Dreams May Come, which also doesn't belong to me. I leave for the graveyard. When I get there, Whistler's at my grave, collecting Angel's ashes. He doesn't look up when I stand next to him. "Hey kid, how's it going?" he asks, continuing to collect the ashes. "How can you see me?" I ask, surprised. He gets up and faces me, "Kid, I'm dead. The dead can see the dead. Anyway, it wasn't supposed to be like this." I laugh bitterly and reply, "Gee, when have you said that to me before?" He smiles, "No really. You're were supposed to be the invincible Slayer. The one who could not be defeated by any demon. We didn't see this happening. Next time you're 18, respect your curfew, okay?" I'm really confused now. "Uh, next time? And I was immortal?" He shakes his head, "I dunno, kid. It's all changed now. But you have to save Angel. He's suffering again and he doesn't deserve it." I ask, "So, what do I do? Where is he?" He looks down at Angel's ashes and answers, "Hell." I whimper softly, "Hell? Again? I have to help him! He didn't deserve to die! Why is he in Hell? He had his soul!"
Whistler shakes his head again and directs me over to a bench while telling me, "It's a combination of things. First, he did commit suicide. The big guy upstairs doesn't really appreciate that kind of thing. The other thing is more complicated. When someone is turned into a vampire, their soul goes to Heaven. Or Hell, depending on the soul. When Angelus got his soul back, he lost his place in Heaven because of the Romani curse, which dealt with the black arts. They're not a plus either with the head honchos. It really isn't Angel's fault, but still, he cannot go to Heaven. So the obvious answer would be Hell, right?" I nod. "Wrong. He didn't do anything to be in Hell. Not to mention he got booted because they really didn't like his soul down there. Your boyfriend's really not an amiable person, is he? So, alas, he's a lost soul. No pun intended." I sigh and remain silent for a minute, trying to drink it all in.
"So, what can I do?" I ask. He looks me in the eye and says, "You sure you wanna? I mean, it's not going to be easy. And this thing is rare and might not work." I nod and reply, "No, I have to. I let him down before and I can't let this happen again. We have always been the exception to the rules, so there has to be a way. You just have to point me in the right direction." "All right, then. Go back to your watcher. He will have found a book, "The Afterlife", by now. Take it and go back to the mansion where Jenny brought you. She'll help you. You will probably meet up with Merrick also. They are the two people you relate death with, so they will be your guides. Go now, you cannot waste any time. Good luck, kid," he says and walks away. I get up and head over to the high school. When I walk in, I go over to Giles and get the book Whistler told me about. Everyone looks startled for a moment, seeing a book float up and walk away, then realize it's just me. I go over to the computer and type,
"Don't worry, it's just your local ghost. Hey Will, hope they all filled you in. So, I met up with Whistler and I found out what I have to do. I need this book, Giles. I won't hurt it, don't worry. I need to leave for awhile, a long while, I'm guessing. Actually, I have no idea when I'll get back." I decide to leave out the ‘if I get back'. "So, you guys don't have to research anymore. Thanks for your help. Go out to the Bronze, people! Live your lives already! I'll be OK. I'll talk to ya later, hopefully Angel will too. Bye! Love you guys!" With that, I leave with my book and head over to the mansion.
