Part Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Buffy, are you sure that the name was 'Saran'?"

"Giles, for the tenth time, yes! She had blood red hair, wore some weird black and white clothes, and oh yeah, SHE VANISHED IN A BALL OF LIGHT!"

"Yes, yes, I heard all that, but it's impossible, in the Watcher Diaries, there is a legend about a girl named Saran, it is said that she has dealings with the devil, and is the mother of all evil. But she cannot be here. It says that she was imprisoned in the immortal realms for a thousand years for plotting the destruction of the earth, she isn't due to be released until another hundred years have past."

"Wrong." An unknown melodic voice reached the ears of Watcher and Slayer. The speaker was yet another girl. This time, with shoulder length black hair, sparkling blue eyes, and outfitted in a pair of wide leg khakis and a black tank top. Buffy immediately put herself in a fighting position as the watcher looked on in shock. "Who the hell are you?"

"Vera." The girl approached the Slayer with outspread hands to show that she meant no harm. "Saran is my sister."

"Your sister?" Giles looked at Vera with wide eyes. Vera nodded. "I'm not proud to admit it, cause she happens to be one hell of a bitch, but yeah."

"Hello? Remember? The Slayer?" Buffy interrupted the two before Giles could start launching questions. Vera looked over at the Slayer expectantly. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"To help."

"How do we know that we can trust you? You could be exactly like your sister for all we --"

Vera suddenly slammed the Slayer flat against the desk, looked her in the eye, and in monotonous voice said "I am NOTHING like Saran, got that?!" Buffy sensed that she should keep her mouth shut about the relationship between Vera and Saran and nodded. Vera released the Slayer and looked at Giles. "So Watcher, want me to tell what I know now, or later?"

"I suppose now would be a good --" The Watcher was interrupted by the rest of the gang coming into the library.

"Hey Buff, how was the slay --" Seeing an unfamiliar person in their midst, Xander quickly tried to cover up his mistake in language. "Did I say 'slay'? No, I meant how was the...um..Willow, help?" Buffy laughed and gave Willow, Xander, and Oz the skinny on what just happened.

"So, can I say what I gotta say now? Before vampires rule the world?" The gang all nodded as Giles got ready to jot down some notes for future reference.

"Saran is a daughter of Mother Flame and Father Universe, as am I. She was born about 10 thousand centuries years ago, while I was born only a century or so before. All the gods and goddesses in the immortal realms either have the blood of gods in their veins, are children of the gods, or are direct descendants of Father Universe and Mother Flame, like me. Saran is the goddess of strife and malice. She --"

"What are you the goddess of?" Vera looked towards Willow and shrugged. "I really don't know. Mother and Father decide what their children shall be after their first century of life, so I should be finding out soon, but until then I can only guess. Any way, back to the story, Saran was always getting into trouble with the other gods when she was my age. But when she became the goddess of strife she changed. She became cruel, wicked, evil, you name it, she became it. Then, I was born. She hated me from day one. She was always out to get me in any way possible. Just last night, she got to me. She killed my horse."

"All this is about a horse?!" An obviously stunned Slayer looked at Vera with disbelief in her eyes.

"If you let me continue, I will explain further. My horse was not just any horse. She, well her name was Black Fire. She was the most powerful thing on four legs. Ran like the wind she did. Her existence is what kept vampires out of the immortal realms. Don't ask me how the existence of a horse kept vampires out of the immortal realms, it just is. I mean, it always has been, as long as a descendant of Life's Fire, the first horse in the immortal world lives on, no vampire may enter the immortal world. Now, you might be thinking why it is so important to keep vampires out of the immortal realm, well here's the reason. When a vampire goes into the immortal realm, it gains certain powers. They can walk in daylight, and they can also control the elements to use according to their whims, even against the gods, but only in the immortal realms. Now, if a vampire happens to feed on immortal blood, and cross back into your world, he would be able to walk around in daylight, not be killed by stakes, and would automatically gain magic. His offspring would be able to walk around in daylight, and wouldn't be hurt by stakes. Do you see where I am going with this?"

Giles quickly drew to a conclusion. "Because Black Fire is dead, all that you mentioned is liable to happen. The world would be in total chaos!"

"Bingo. Right now Saran is arranging with Angelus the transportation of his most powerful vampires into the immortal realm. Competition to be one of the chosen ones is fierce. They plan to enter my world in about a week."

"How are we going to stop them?!" Willow beckoned to Vera to let them help.

"We have to get Saran back home before she takes the vampires with her and find a way to shield my world"

"Let's get started! Willow, find some spells for shielding. Oz, help her. Xander, Cordelia, snacks. Giles, research all you can about Saran and how she works, her weaknesses, the works."

"And what are you two going to do?"

"Giles, me and Vera are going to pay a little visit to Willie."
