Disclaimer: I do not own the characters associated with Buffy the Vampire Slayer that have been already mentioned in the show. Any other characters are mine. I claim full rights on all ideas, it is an original plot.
Author's Note: I wrote this story before we knew about Surprises and Innocence, some of things revealed are things similar to what Joss covered. My, my, how we think alike! This does cover the return of Spike and Dru, so if you want to call it my version of S/I, go ahead, but there are some major differences. Confused? You should be, read on! Oh, and don't forget feedback!

Part Two

"Spike .....Spike," Druscilla spoke softly as she came into the room. Druscilla came and knelt by Spike, who was propped up slightly with a few blankets and pillows. Dru took a moist compress and rubbed it against his forehead. The warm water rolled down his face.
"Yes luv," Spike said weakly.
Dru returned the compress to a basin beside him. She stroked his blonde hair back, "I need you to rest, regain your strength." Dru reached into a cooler, pulling out a pack of blood.
"You know what I need," Spike managed to utter in short gasps.
"Slayer's blood," Druscilla hissed. Dru put the bag of blood in Spike's mouth, as he slightly opened his mouth. She forced the bag against his slightly exposed fangs, puncturing it. Spike slowly sucked on the blood. "Everything else we're doing only buys you time. That infernal Slayer," Druscilla spoke with contempt. "She doesn't even know what she's done!" Dru looked at Spike lovingly, stroking his hair. She continued to do this as she talked. "When she threw the orb (Author's note: if you know the name for that implement that Buffy threw at Spike, please tell me) at you, and knocked you unconscious, that was merely a physical injury. But when the church fell on us, it caused the orb to open, and leak its dark power over you." The incense, which burned from inside the orb, was the most dangerous part of the ritual. Druscilla and Spike both knew that going in. The substance wreaked of evil. There was a grave warning that accompanied the making of this substance. If the substance touched you, the slightest amount, it would begin to drain you of your power, health, vitality, and your very existence. The substance would seep into your body and begin to spread. it would ravage through your body, destroying everything as it went along. First, it impurifies your blood, causing it to become your own body's poison. Then it invades the cells of every functioning organ, eliminating function by function, while starving your body of its own life fluid. There was only one kind of person who was resistant to the dark substance, Slayers. A Slayer's blood had the resistance factors that prevented the dark magic from having any effect. A Slayer's blood is also the only thing that will cure the affliction. Now Dru was standing up, pacing back and forth behind her beloved, deep in devious thought. "When our plan comes to fruition, your health will be restored."
In an abandoned warehouse, a dark, pale hand slowly moved away a covering. It carefully removed a book from the hidden compartment. The hand slid back the covering.
"Hey Xander, Wllow," Buffy said with joy, "How long have you been waiting?'
"Not ..." Willow paused, "long. About 15 minutes."
"Let's shoot some pool," Xander said, shooting his arms out in a 'Ta-Da' like fashion with an exaggerated grin, like he had come up with an idea that would garner him the Nobel Prize.
"Sounds like fun," Buffy replied, "What do you think Willow?"
"Sure," Willow said, getting off her barstool.
The three headed over to a pool table, "Who wants to break," Buffy asked, grabbing a rack.
"I will," Willow said. Xander went over to grab the sticks, several feet away. When Xander was far enough away, Willow asked softly, "So, is Angel Bronzin' it tonight?"
"He said he might show. He wasn't sure if he could make it."
A few seconds later, Xander returned with the cue sticks, "Here you go, my fine friends of the female phenotype."
Buffy cracked up, "I've never heard anyone use alliteration quite like you."
Willow just looked at Xander oddly. "What," Xander said.
"I didn't know you knew what phenotype meant!"
"Oooohh! Good one Willow," Buffy said, while hi-fiving Willow.
"Hey! I do remember some things from," Xander did a mild convulsion at the thought of the word, "school!"
"We still playing cutthroat as usual," Buffy queried.
"Of course, unless you wanted to play uneven teams of another game," Xander said.
"Alright," Buffy said, jumping at the opportunity, "Willow and I versus you in 8 ball."
"Fine," Xander said. Willow set down the cue ball for the break.
"In 2 days time, we will see our leader rise again. To ensure this, the ritual must go off without a hitch. I will be taking control until our leader rightfully reclaims his place among us," the vampire said.
"Who made you boss," another vampire said in a demanding tone.
"He told me to take over, should anything happen to him," the vampire waved the book in the air. "Spike and Dru are gone at the perfect time!"
"Nice shot Buffy," Xander exclaimed.
"Yeah ... thanks Xander," Buffy said, eyeing Xander like a kid who was caught in a candy store, "but something tells me you were watching my form more than the shot."
"And what beautiful form it is too!" Buffy looked at Willow and rolled her eyes at Xander's last comment.
Angel was sitting in his chair, thinking about the dream he had earlier. "I'm not going to the bronze tonight. Buffy would be able to tell something was wrong. If she found out, I can see it now, 'Honey, you see, I've been having dreams about an old obsession of mine, 'You've been fantasizing about her!' 'Well...um' 'You don't even have the decency to dream about me!' " Angel was brought out of his thoughts by a noise. What he saw in front of him, he knew wasn't real, "Dru...," he said, confused. "I must be dreaming. Not again," he muttered, loud enough just so Dru could hear. "What are you doing here," Angel said, standing up.
