Part 3:
Disclaimer: You know the drill. I don’t own the Buffy characters. The Sleeping Beauty story used is from a Disney book I had, and I don’t own that either. If you’re trying to keep up, here’s the line-up: Buffy – Aurora/Briar Rose, Angel – Prince Philip, Giles – King Stephen, Joyce – the Queen, Xander – King Hubert, Faith – Maleficent, Willow – Flora, Tara – Fauna, Cordelia – Merryweather

Time line – takes place sometime between ‘Earshot’ and ‘Choices,’ therefore Faith has been ousted as being bad.

Back at the cottage, the three aunts were in a panic. “Get me out of here!” cried Cordelia, who was all tied up in the dress. “I can’t help you!” cried Tara. “Look! The cake is starting to fall!” The three aunts were desperate. Briar Rose would return any minute and everything was a mess. Willow rubbed her chin. “I know. We’ll use our magic wands. After all, this is a special occasion. But first, we must cover all the windows and plug all the nooks and crannies. Can’t have anyone seeing us.” They all ran around and covered everything up so that no one could see in. Then, Cordelia ran up to the attic to get the wands. “I’d almost forgotten we still had them,” Tara said. Three waves of the magic wand, and a beautiful dress appeared. “I was never much of a cook anyway,” Tara said, as she let her wand do the work. “Now that’s what I call a magic recipe,” she said as a scrumptious looking cake appeared. There was just one slight problem – the color of the dress. Cordelia thought that blue was best. “It will match her eyes,” she said as she waved her wand. “No! No! NO! Red is better. It will go with her rosy cheeks,” said Willow. “I said blue!” cried Cordelia as she shot off sparks from her wand. The fairies began sending flashes of color all over the house. They had forgotten that they were supposed to be careful and not use their magic. Sparks of color flew out the chimney. The evil Raven was flying by, and spotted the cottage. He swooped down to have a closer look. The Raven realized it was magic, and immediately flew off to inform Faith.

Hearing Briar Rose’s footsteps outside, the fairies stopped fighting. “Surprise!” they shouted as she entered the room. Briar Rose was delighted. What a beautiful gown, and the cake looked delicious. “We decided to celebrate your birthday one day early,” Willow said. “Tomorrow is a very special day. You will go to meet your parents – King Rupert and Queen Joyce.” “Yes, you are not really Briar Rose,” said Tara. “Your real name is Princess Buffy and your parents live in a palace far away from here.” “I too have something to tell you,” said Buffy, and she told them about the young man in the forest. The three fairies hated to do it, but they had to break it to Buffy that she could never see the young man from the forest again. Early the next morning, the fairies and Princess Buffy set out for the palace. Buffy was hid beneath a long cloak. As she walked, she thought of the young man she had met in the forest. The fairies thought of that day 16 years ago, when they had crept through the woods with a tiny baby in their arms.

At the palace, the two kings were beginning to celebrate when the Prince told his father that he could not marry Princess Buffy. His heart was lost to the young girl in the forest.

Buffy secretly entered the palace. The fairies took her to a secret room, where she would stay waiting for her parents to come find her. While she was waiting, Willow gave her one final gift. “A crown for thy beauty, for it is a gift and royal duty.” Buffy looked at herself in the mirror, and put her head in her hands and cried. The three fairies decided it would be best to leave her alone. As Buffy sat alone, she saw a small door appear in the fireplace, accompanied with a strange green light. She followed the green light up many staircases, until she reached a room high in the castle. Standing inside the room was a tall woman dressed in black. Beside her was a spinning wheel. Buffy was drawn to it, and heard the woman in black saying ‘Touch it … Touch it I say!” Buffy put her hand out to touch the beautiful wood and her finger was pricked by the needle. All at once, she fell to the floor. The three fairies rushed in to see Faith standing there, laughing. “Here is your precious Princess!” she cried, and disappeared. “We must do something quickly!” said Willow. “We can’t let her poor parents find her like this.” “Yes, and we must find the Prince before Faith does,” said Tara. “But Buffy told us that she was in love with the man in the forest. What are we going to do?” asked Willow. “Remember, only her lover’s kiss can save her.” The three fairies put their heads together. At last, they decided to put everyone in the palace to sleep. It was while doing this that Willow found out that Prince Angel had met a peasant maid in the forest, and was in love. Willow realized that Buffy’s young man from the forest was actually Prince Angel.
