Buffy and Angel were alone, and awkward.
"I'm going to need some help dealing with the things I've done," he said.
"I know," she said, holding him close to her. "I have my own issues to deal with. As if our relationship couldn't get any more complicated."
Angel smiled weakly.
"I think we'll be ok," she said. "I mean, we've got an angel on our side."
Angel smiled at her.
He pulled her close to him, and their lips met for what felt like the first time in centuries.
He kissed her with all the passion he felt inside him, all the goodness in his heart that had finally conquered the demon within. And she, with all the strength she thought she had been lacking for all these months.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you, too," she said.
They walked outside together.
"Where do we go from here?," Angel said, staring at her. He smiled at her friends.
"I think we should all get some sleep and deal with this tomorrow," Willow said. "Of course, you don't sleep now, Angel, but the rest of us are tired and well, we're going home now."
"I don't have a home," Buffy said, sadly.
"I do," Angel said. "We'll figure out what to do about your mother tomorrow. You look like you haven't slept in weeks, Buffy."
"Are you saying I look bad? After everything I did for you?"
"No you're the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my life," he said.
"Well, if you put it that way," Buffy said, walking off into the night with her love, and her friends, and feeling at peace for the first time in months.
