"I look at your lips,
remember how soft they can be.
Do they know what they wanted ?
The times they kissed me.
And your hands,
I held in mine,
They are lying on the pillow.
Will they ever miss me?"
Buffy sang these words in a barely audible voice, she was suprised she knew it so well until she realized why she had remembered it. Angel. The night when she had said goodbye to him and their relationship, the first time, that song had played in the backround. That had been the most painful, tragic moment of her life, at that point. She never expected to see him again. That's why she tried to seem not that affected by the situation around Xander & Willow. She didn't like to cry in front of them. She was their protector. She was supposed to be strong for them. If they saw her break down and cry, what would they think? Now she realizes they would have thought she was human. Not some superhero with no feelings.
Still she had been so naive then. This whole experience with Angel had made her more mature. She looked out the window, the sun had almost set. It had gotten really hot and humid. She wondered what state she was in, or even what country. She didn't even know whether they were going north or south, east or west. She just got on a bus and wasn't getting off until she saw a sign that read "Welcome to Mexico" or "Welcome to Canada". Her wish was soon answered. "That's gotta be a first." she whispered to herself. Buffy thought. "Well, it's far enough for a short break to rest."
Buffy stepped off the bus when it stopped in front of a dump of a hotel.
Little did Buffy know she knew two of the hotel guests quite well.
"Nooooo, we have to go back! She'll get hungry! Miss Edith will die if we don't go back and save her!" screamed a very concerned and very wigged out Drusilla.
"Darling, we can't go back and get your dolls. The Slayer threatened my precious Princess and I will NOT let anything happen to you." Spike hissed. Dru put on a pout at Spike's tone and he immediatly softened. " I'm sorry, ducks. I'm just a bit stressed right now, sweetheart."
"When is Angel coming? He is just staying behind to finish off the job right, Daddy?" Drusilla asked innocently.
"Well hun, I really don't think Angel will be catching up with us anytime soon." Spike replied, trying to sound sympathetic. Dru frowned and looked down. Spike frowned at his love's disappointed reaction.
And what pissed him off even more is that he can. Well he probably doesn't know where they are. If he was lucky Angel is dead.
*With his luck he's probably still alive He felt a teeny bit of pity for her.< I mean she helped get Drusilla out of that seductive, pig-headed, jerk's clutches. Oh well, at least she can rest in peace now.>
Meanwhile, down the hall in the lobby.....
Buffy lay on her bed, sweating until she surely thought she would die. Then she remembered. Buffy jumped off her bed and started doing a little dance. "Eureka!" she exclaimed. Then she realized why she was here. Angel. To try and get him off her mind. She began to mope again. She sulked down the hall and walked over to the pool. She dipped her feet in the pool and was disappointed to find it was warm. At least it was cool enough to give me a tiny bit of relief from this scorching heat. She dived into the pool and began swimming around. It was more like floating than swimming. She was too lazy to put her bathing suit on and her clothes were sticking to her. Come to think of it, she hadn't even packed a bathing suit. She just threw the contents of her drawers into a duffel bag. She hadn't thought to bring a bathing suit. She didn't think any place she could afford would have a pool. Her mind drifted to the base of her thoughts. Angel. She pushed herself back t lean against the pool wall. She began to sob quietly, then rather loudly until she was in hysterics. She remembered that she had to keep quiet or the manager or whoever would come out and she would get booted since it was after hours and no one was allowed to be in the pool after 11:00. It was already midnight.
She was suprised the place was so deserted. She hadn't heard a peep from the people within the motel. Her nose began to run fom her crying fit. She sniffled. she thought, thinking how she could go on without Angel. "Why won't you help me?! Is that too much to ask?! I just want to be with him!" she screamed. Just as she finished her sentence she heard people chatting. She ducked under water before they could see her. It was too late. They had. She had to come up soon, she was running out of breath. Why hadn't she thought of this before? The answer to all her problems.
"Love," Dru whined, "I don't see anyone." Spike sighed. "Pet, they're all asleep." Drusilla pouted. "But I can hear my tummy rumble. It's speaking to me, she says she's hungry. You better listen to her. She gets very angry when she's hungry." Drusilla warned.
They walked around the fence that led towards the pool.
"Oh look we've got ourselves a victim." Spike said pointing to the pool.
Dru's face lit up. "Naughty, naghty, out this late." she said with a devilish grin.
"Let's get us a late night snack."Spike said, his face changing into vampiric form.
He dove into the pool and started swimming to his meal while Drusilla stepped out of her boots, sat down by the edge of the pool, and skimmed her feet along the water.
Buffy was about to blow up. She didn't have the strength to suck in the water herself, she was waiting until it happened instinctively.
Spike grabbed his prey by the arm and pulled her out of the water. His heart sunk when he saw who it was.
"YOU!" they exclaimed in unison.
"What the hell are YOU doing here?!" Buffy screamed.
"Me? What are YOU doing here?! YOU told me to get out of the country! Love, this is Mexico!" Spike yelled back.
"I SWEAR I have the worst luck!" Buffy said to herself outloud.
Out of curiosity, NOT concern, he asked "What were you doing?" Buffy glared at him, she looked really ticked.
"What did it look like?" she asked sarcastically. Still dripping and wading in the pool he answered with a short "Oh." "Oh." Buffy mimicked sounding very annoyed. "It seems I keep on saving you from sticky situations." Spike said with half a smile on his face. Then realizing her miserable look he asked, "What happened? With you and Angel, I mean."
Buffy looked up at her enemy with a face so troubled and depressed even Spike felt pity for her. he thought.
"It's a long story." Buffy said in almost a whisper.
"I got time, the curiosity is killing me." Spike replied.
Spike hadn't noticed, but Drusilla had creeped up by them on the edge of the pool, shocked that her sweet Spike had not attacked the Slayer, who was supposed to be dead, and he was actually talking to her! Nicely! She finally decided to speak up.
"Spike...what's going on?"
