"Relax Giles. I'm not going to hurt you, if you shut up." Erin said to Giles as she pushed her way through him into his apartment. "Come on Tim."
The scooby gang stood in shock at how Erin had invited herself into Giles' apartment, and how forward she was.
"Do you want to find out who I am, or not?"
"Well, we do know one thing." Xander attempted to point out.
"And what's that?" Erin said angrily.
"You're not a vampire. Giles didn't invite you in. No-one did for that matter." Xander replied, whispering the last sentence under his breath.
"That's a relief." Buffy said.
"No. I'm not a vampire, and Xander, I can hear everything you say." Erin commented, obviously talking about not being invited in. Xander turned a deep shad of red. "Now, if you don't mind, I'm kind of tired, so I want to explain things to you quickly and then go home, so if you please..." Erin motioned towards the sofas in the middle of the large room.
"Now, Erin, I do believe your name is," Giles said, "will you please explain how you know what you do."
"What I know? Do you want the simple explanation?"
"Yeah, if ya' wouldn't mind." Buffy said snidely.
"Short - I'm a slayer."
"Oh great. Is she gonna' help some wacko guy turn into big scary demon, so you have to put her in a coma, eventually killing her, because she was trying to kill Angel?" Xander remarked snidely.
"Xander!" Willow yelled at him, giving him The Look.
"Sorry, it's just that the last slayer-" Buffy tried to explain before Erin cut her off.
"went wacko, turned evil, helped the mayor with the Ascension, shot your vampire one and only true love with a poisoned arrow, so you put her in a coma, she died and Angel left. No need to fill me in. I know, thanks."
"I resent that statement, thank you very much." Xander muttered.
"What statement?" Buffy said, confused.
"One and only true love...What about me?" The group tried to contain their laughter and not hurt Xander's feelings.
"How do you know about all of this? I mean, you must have an amazing watcher."
"You could say that...let's just say I've been around for a while."
"But Faith has only been dead for a little bit."
"I've been around a little longer than you think."
Giles suddenly clued in. "But that would mean that you were here before Buffy," Erin slowly nodded her head as Giles continued, "and you're still alive. She's your replacement." Erin nodded her head again.
Xander added in "Hold on a second, I thought that there was only one Chosen One, one girl chosen to fight the vampires, yadd yadda yadda, and that would mean that you would have had to..."
"Died?" Tim added in sharply. The Scooby Gang watched as Erin slowly nodded her head in acceptance that she had died.
"Really? Me too." Buffy said cheerfully.
"I know."
"How come this is the first time you have met?" Willow added in.
"I'm Buffy's 'Guardian Slayer', I guess you could say. The world is doing just fine without my help. They've got buffy, although they don't know it."
"This is gettin kinda freaky. I'm having the wiggins." Buffy announced as she rose out of her seat. "My 'Guardian Slayer'?"
"I know how strange it must sound Buffy. YOu need to know that there is every possibility that you might die again, and not come back. I'm sure you know that. I'm sure you know that you're not perfect. No-one is. I'm here to help you, not to scare you, or get in the way. I'm another slayer. The only one."
"Not for long."
"Why? Are you planning on dying sometime soon?"
"No, remember Faith?"
"Like I said, I'm the only other Slayer. We may very well be the last."
"What do you mean the last?" Giles jumped into the conversation."
"Like you wanted, the Watcher's council closed up shop. They inform the new slayer, they help her learn about vampires. Things are way too messed up this time for that."
Buffy, Giles, Willow and Xander looked at Erin in amazement. Suddenly, Giles' attentions were drawn to Tim sitting in the corner.
"How does he know about all of this?" Giles said with extreme concern.
"Now, that would mean that I would have to get into the long version, and that's not something that you want to me do."
"No, please, explain. I'm dying to know." Xander replied to Erin's attempt to get out of an explanation.
"I'll tell them Erin. You see, Erin's a slayer also. She fell in love with a vampire. Things ended very badly. She fell in love with me. She died. She was brought back to life, and she came here today, I think. Oh yeah, she has a kid. Where is Lishey?"
"She had to stay somewhere safe. I couldn't bring her here."
"Was that a good enough short enough short version of the long version?" Tim asked, half-sarcastically.
"I'd say it summed it up nicely, although I wouldn't really know." Willow offered.
"And, tell me again, why are you here?" Buffy asked with a burning to stop 'beating around the bush'.
"I can't tell you everything right now. You will understand though. I know how to help you. I know how to help you make a decision about Angel."
"Decision? I don't think Buffy has much of a choice." Xander said disgustedly.
"Yes she does. In fact, she has several. Not a day passes without her thinking of him, because he is her 'soulmate'."
"You mean when he has a soul." Xander tried to insult Angel.
"Shut up Xander," Erin said, "Buffy can choose to spend every day of the rest of her life mourning over her loss, she can talk to him and become friends, she can forget him, and then there's always the hardest option- she can kill him. She has many choices, and I'm going tohelp her make one. Help her make the best one. You're not alone Buffy. Trust me."
With that, Erin and Tim walked out of Giles' apartment leaving theScooby Gang stunned. They were walking along the street when Erin turned to Tim.
"They're following us."
"Slayer-sense?"
"No. Buffy must be aware of the same thing that I am."
"What's that?"
"Something's not right. Something's horribly wrong." Erin turned around and grabbed Tim by the arm. They only had to turn the corner before encountering the Gang.
"You can tell too?" Buffy asked Erin.
"We have to hury. Something is very strange."
"Yeah, I'm kinda' having the wiggins here."
"Okay, am I just incredibly stupid, or did I miss something here?" Xander asked the rest of the group.
"I don believe that Erin and Buffy have the same sense for evil, seeing as they are both slayers, it would make terrible sense. However, for both slayers to be so alarmed is definitely not a good sign." Giles explained.
Buffy and Erin let their feet lead them to where whatever 'thing' they were sensing was waiting for them.
"Buffy, stay behind me. You have to back me up."
"Why do I have to stay behind and miss out on the fun?" Buffy demanded.
"Because you can't die."
"Like you can? Besides, don't you remember, helping me make the best choice? I'd really kinda' like that 'cause I'm really quite desperate."
"Buffy, in due time, I'll help you, but I have to make sure that you trust me. Tim! Keep them back!" Erin yelled back to Tim and the rest of the gang. "I need them to stay out of trouble. Ready?"
"Always." Buffy quipped as she and Erin charged around the corner, to come across a very large demon which stopped them in their tracks. Erin and Buffy looked up in awe and couldn't believe what they were seeing. They stood in a trance until Buffy heard Willow's scream.
"Willow!" Buffy and Erin emerged from the trance they were in just in time to start running. The demon followed close behind quite easily as the girls ran as quickly as possible towards where they heard the screams coming from.
"Xander, Willow, Giles! Go the other way! I'll distract mama-ugly over here. Go get Erin and Buffy. Hurry!" Tim shouted to the rest of the group. Tim and the unkbown vampire were battling while the others ran to meet Buffy and Erin.
The vampire kicked Tim with a high roundhouse which hit him in the side of his head. Tim returned with a punch that mildly phased the vampire, giving Tim enough time to run around the corner. He came upon a high fence which he knew he couldn't get around in time.
Willow, Giles and Xander reached Buffy adn Erin in hardly any time.
"Buffy! Erin!" Willow yelled frantically, out of breath. "Hurry! It's...it's Tim. He needs help." Erin had taken off before Willow could even finish her sentence. Buffy looked at the others, and they all started running, although they couldn't keep up with Erin.
She rounded the corner as the vampire was cornering Tim.
"Hey!" she yelled to the vampire, which got its attention. "Why don't you pick on somebody your own strength!" Erin yelled as she ran towards where Tim was standing. She lifted her foot high in the air and delivered a kick to the vampire's chest, which sent it flying into a large dumpster. "Tim. I want you to know that I love you, and Ill do anything to protect you."
"I love you too."
"I don't know what I'd do if I lost you." Erin finished her sentence as she saw the vampire running towards them. She couldn't react quickly enough, so the vampire threw a punch which sent her flying into the nearby brick wall.
