Part Three

Angel’s Place

“RIIIIINNNGG” the telephone chattered, interupting a night of male bonding between Angel and Oz. Quite unlike his reaction towards Xander, Angel found Oz a very agreeable person to hang with, naturaly able to relate to Oz’s superntuaral status.Despite the very rocky first meeting, the two men now considered themselves brothers----as an added bonus, Xander just happned to piss both of them off. Like their signifgant others, they had sworn to respect the single-sex nature of such an event.

Getting up for the phone, Angel was puzzled whom it could be. Few people called him, and the people who did were all out doing other things. Given the odds, this call was probaly not a happy one. Neverless, Angel picked up the reciver, soon in shock over the news that he was recciving. Clearly, the night had been going way too well.

Listening intently, Angel’s eyes bugged out , he thought---unable to belive the news. Kidnapping the president (or any head of state for that matter) was a new low for vampires. Years of government service had certainly prepared him for the possiblity of terrorisim, although HE never would’ve guessed that vampires were capable of such deed he silently muttered---astounded at the utter stupidy of the demons. Little doubt that Buffy would fail in her mission, he reassured her of her abilties. If the vampires wanted to play hardball, then Buffy was the one person who could definently beat them. Apparently, theese vampires were new intown, because it sounded like they had no clue of Buffy's abilties. They would soon learn.

Greatly easing her burdens was the fact that the media had NOT uncovered the reason for the president’s disapearance. Although Vice President Gore had taken over his duties, most citizens weren’t aware of the change in power---lest they start freaking out. Supernatual activity rasied little eyebrows in Sunnydale, but could possibly have serious consequences on the national level---and beyond, considering the likely reaction to the news. Thankfully, the media had declined to follow such a story, writng if off as a “dumb college prank”.

Very carefull to avoid a patronizing tone, Angel was incredibly proud of Buffy’s internship. While it wasn’t exactly the most conventional avenue (screw putting it on college applications) for job experience, Buffy would technically be gettiing a customized career day---thwarting Synder’s fantasies. Untill runing across the man, Angel belived that it was impossible for living humans to NOT have a pulse---”dictator” Synder proved that wrong. Every time Angel ran into the man, he soon found himself disgusted by all of the sexist things that seemed to drip from his mouth ---and the reformed demon often found himself trying to refrain from screaming in his face (he paid taxes for Sunnydale Public Schools after all).

“So that’s about it” Buffy said. Fortunately, Angel had been home to reccive her call---she didn’t know who else could truly help her in this sittuation, Giles did *not* know the federal government, and there was only so far that computer hacking could get one’s self in this situation. Not as weary as Agent Cobain’s, the slayer’s voice was slightly indicative of the very big task awaiting her."Night Angel", she ended her voice trailing off.
