Buffy broke away from Dawn and turned around. “Spike?” After a moment her eyes turned hard. “Get out,” she growled.
“Buffy?” Dawn asked.
“It’s the first,” Buffy said. “Get out.”
Spike’s eyes softened and he went toward her.
Buffy trembled as he came toward her.
Spike lifted her hand and placed it on his cheek. “I’m not the first,” he said, softly.
Tears welled in Buffy’s eyes. “Spike,” she whispered.
Spike smiled a little. “I’m okay,” he said, pushing her hair back.
Dawn smiled and wiped away a stray tear as she left them alone.
Buffy walked closer to Spike. “Dawn said she saw a pile of dust and a stake on the floor in the basement. Angel felt it and I knew you were gone. You were there and 10 minutes later you were gone,” she said, tears sliding down her face. “Then she told me it could have been Giles. I’ve never felt so empty in my entire life.”
Spike pulled Buffy into his arms. “It’s okay now,” he said. “I’m here.”
Buffy buried her face in his neck. “It feels so good to be in your arms,” she said.
Spike scooped her up and carried her to the couch. He laid down and she laid with him. “It feels good to have you in my arms.”
Buffy threw her legs over his hips and snuggled deeper into him.
Angel hung up the phone. “Buffy, none of my contacts in Sunnydale have seen Giles,” Angel said, but didn’t get a response. “Buffy?” He asked going toward the living room. “Are you…” He paused when he saw Buffy and Spike snoozing on the couch. “What the..?”
Dawn came down stairs and smiled at them. “He came back. Buffy didn’t give him a chance to explain,” she said, fondly.
Angel smiled. “That’s good. Lets just hope she tells him how she feels,” he said.
Buffy sighed in contentment. “Spike,” she mumbled.
Spike nuzzled her fondly. “Hm?”
“I love you,” she said, softly.
Spike pushed himself up on his arm. “You what?”
Buffy raised her eyes to his. “I love you,” she whispered, shyly.
Spike saw the vulnerability and truth in her eyes. “I love you, too,” he said, smiling.
Buffy pulled him down and kissed him tenderly.
Spike cradled her face and deepened their kiss.
Dawn and Angel smiled and then Dawn cleared her throat.
Buffy and Spike ignored him and continued to kiss.
Dawn rolled her eyes. “As mushy and romantic as this all is, don’t you think you’d rather do it upstairs?”
Buffy pulled away slightly. “She’s right,” she said, standing up.
She pulled Spike up and toward the stairs. She paused to give Angel a hug. “Thanks for coming,” she whispered.
Angel smiled and kissed her forehead. “No problem but I think you’re gunna be okay now,” he said.
Buffy pulled away and smiled. “Yeah I will,” she said, looking at Spike who was holding Dawn.
Angel looked at Spike. “Take care of her,” he said.
“I will,” Spike said, with promise.
Angel smiled at his childe and left.
Buffy looked at Dawn. “Dawn, I think it’s bedtime,” she said, softly.
Dawn pulled away from Spike. “I’m glad you’re here and you’re okay,” she said, fondly.
Spike smiled and kissed her forehead. “I couldn’t leave either of my girls for long. Now could I?” He asked.
Dawn smiled and went upstairs.
Buffy went up to Spike and kissed him soundly. “Lets go to bed,” she said, taking him upstairs.
They crawled into bed and into each other’s arms.
“I love you, Spike,” Buffy said.
“I love you too,” Spike said, kissing her softly.
Soon they were fast asleep.
