Chapter 2: Evil All Around.
~Meeting in Session~
Angel opens the door for Buffy and she walks in and behind her is Angel. Angel leads her to a seat right next to him and they both sit down. The Demons are already seated and are waiting for him to address the meeting. Angel starts to speak but then the demons talk in their own way.
“Rushi naki ogino waki takisu motiki”, their clan leader says. The others look at Angel while the clan leader still speaks. “hogishi behidsi rokiti fogisasgh ramunagi kokisarg”
They all look at Angel who looks confused cause he can’t understand them at all. Angel, looking more confused cause they’re all staring at him, says, “Uhhh… yes?”
The Clan leader gets up and leaves with his people trailing him.
After they leave and a minute has passed Buffy and Angel remain speechless for a while.
“Wow, that was, uhhh that was exciting.” Buffy said while remaining more confused than Angel.
“Well usually they speak English,” Angel looks and Buffy and her eyes meet his. They both look away after noticing that they’re both staring at each other’s eyes. Buffy starts to rub her hand around her neck and says, “So, does that mean they’re your client or just someone who I think insulted my outfit.” Buffy frowns and looks at Angel.
Angel looks back at her and then the table, “I don’t know, I think maybe they are my clients now… this is really confusing. I think they said that I look like a girl, I wish I had a demon dictionary.” Angel gets up and so does Buffy, they both walk out of the room and talks some more with each other.
“So, Angel.”
“Hmm?”
“Is this what you do everyday? Go into meetings, getting or possibly insulted by your clients and then work on some pieces of paper with ink on them thinking that all the ink is some big contract to the underworld or some part of a demon or worse?”
“Wait, can you rephrase that?”
“Never mind, just me babbling.” Buffy then runs her hand through her hair and starts to look at Angel and back at her feet. They pass some weird demons and some not so weird but human looking ones. Buffy looks at Angel and their eyes both meet. Angel then again looks somewhere else while Buffy looks at this strange looking green demon with purple horns.
“Hey! Angel-cakes, what do you think of this.” Lorne shows Angel the new color for his interior of his room along with the color of his new couch. Angel looks at the green colored interior sample that seems to match his skin and the purple colored new couch for his room.
Speechless like always Angel hesitates and says, “They look great, oh and this is Buffy, she’s my old friend and my new co-boss for this hell house.” Lorne looks at Buffy and she puts her hand out to him. “Hi, Lorne.” Lorne takes her hand and shakes it. “Well it’s nice to meet someone who can shape this building into something great, so what are you? A demon, witch, something not vampire-ish or maybe you’re a empathy demon.” Lorne smiles his usual kooky smile and Angel then outbursts, “Buffy here is THE Vampire Slayer.
Lorne’s eye’s widen and looks at Buffy, “Well Buffy, THE Vampire Slayer, If Angel gets rough around the edges and all bossy with his stylish jacket, feel free to threaten him.” Lorne smiles then looks at Angel who’s giving him a ‘what in the world’ face.
“Ahh, well I better get going, the new designers are in my room right now, bye Buffy and Angel-cakes.” Buffy smiles and Lorne walks past Angel whispering to him, “She’s cute, keep her.” Angel looks at Lorne and Lorne gets the message and walks away, fast.
Angel and Buffy start to keep on walking down the hall and they both meet Fred, The scientist of the law firm.
“Fred! This is Buffy, the new boss.” Fred smiles and shakes Buffy’s hand.
“Heh well its good to see a girl boss around here. It’s nice to meet you, But if I don’t get over to the science lab there’s going to be a big explosion with some chemicals mixed in and I do not think everyone wants to be a demon. So tootles.”
Fred runs past them and Buffy looks surprised, “Well she’s perky.” “Usually she’s calm all around.”
Angel and Buffy still are walking down the hall with weird feelings and some not, They both tend to look in each others eyes and get lost now and then. “You know, Angel it’s getting a little late and I think I need to maybe talk a walk outside and get to know the city.” “Uhhh, ok I’ll walk you out.” Buffy smiles and they both walk towards to lobby and they both take the elevator. Buffy and Angel both meet each other face to face outside where the cool dark breeze hits them. Buffy’s hair gets blown to the side a little and Angel starts to put his hands in his pockets.
“So I guess this is good-bye, I mean I’ll be back but, you know.”
“Yeah, Look Buffy, I know you saw that piece of paper from Nina.”
They both look at each other and Buffy nods her head a bit.
“Nina is my girlfriend, and I know it’s kind of weird you being here and me with someone else but—“
Buffy cut’s Angel off.
“It’s ok Angel, I’m actually with someone too.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, so were both happy right? I mean not happy, happy, I mean that since we both have someone to be with we don’t have to get in each other’s pants right? I MEAN! Not pants I mean shoes, big fat shoes.”
Angel looks at her and smiles, he missed those times where she babbles and doesn’t make sense, it always makes him feel warm inside. Angel looks at Buffy and Buffy looks at Angel.
“Well, Buffy, I’m just glad you here, I mean seeing wise, and nothing else.” “Of course, it’s been a long time.” “Yes it has been, so…” Angel walks backwards and finishes his sentence. “I guess I’ll see you later?”
“Yep. Maybe tomorrow we can all go out for a drink or something, and maybe you can give me the finish tour.” “I think that’s a good idea.” Angel opens the door and says, “Don’t stay out too long.” Buffy nods as Angel walks in and she watches him walk a long distance. Buffy is still stand there and says, “So, do you think he’s evil or not?”
Someone walks out of the shadows and it’s supposedly her boyfriend. “I don’t know, he seems fine to me.” “Roy, maybe I shouldn’t of agreed to the whole letter idea thingy…” “Well, the senior partners are going to make a move sooner or later, I just think that you should see what’s been going on with Angel.
They could kill him any minute or worse.” “Right, right, world revolved around Angel equals a huge mess for me to clean up.” Roy walks over to her and looks at her face to face. She stares up and him and he looks down at her.
“You know, if it doesn’t turn out like what I envisioned I would be, then you won’t have to clean up everything.” Buffy smiles and they both start to walk towards a coffee shop that’s a couple miles away from the law firm.
We see Angel in the building watching them walk to the coffee shop. Angel’s anger boils up as he sees his old friend from the past who supposedly died or got staked a while back. “Roy…”
