Episode 1x03 : The Body Switch.

I've had my moments, moments where I was happy for a few seconds.
But then I remember, I don't deserve to be happy,
not yet anyway, not this soon.
It's easy saying that you're good and just return to normal.
Return to the happy moments.
But in these past weeks, I realized something,
If you want happiness, you have to earn it.
And to earn it, to be happy,
I had to do some things first.

Faith is sitting on a bus, on her way to L.A.
On her way to see some old "friends" that are said to be there.
Of course, all travels come with problems.
The bus breaks down in the middle of nowhere.
Faith senses that something isn't quite right, a bus breaks down just minutes before the sun is going under.
She stands up and goes to the busdriver.
"Yo, why are we stopping, I've gotta be in L.A. in three hours." she says.
Then she sees the busdrivers face, it's filled with scars, completely different from when she saw him when she first stepped in the bus.
"What's going on here ?! What the hell happened to your face ?" she says.
He wont answer, so when she looks around, she sees all kinds of different people with those scars on their faces.
It seems that someone has planned this, planned a trap for her.
She was about to get of the bus when the doors opened and she saw an old guy standing there.
She asked for his name.
"The name's Rayne, Ethan Rayne." he said and then he coughed, it looked like he was sick or something.
"Alright, I'll play along, Ethan, who the hell are you and why did you turn everyone on this bus into a freak show with scars ?" she says, waiting for response, she knows it was very unlikely she was gonna get an answer to her questions, but she had to try.
So, when she doesn't get an answer, as expected, she makes movements to begin fighting, but two of those scarfaces guys, the busdriver included, grab her before she can even strike out for Ethan.
"Tie her up in the back of the bus." he says while she struggles to break free, but these guys are extraordinary strong and they manage to get her to the back and tie her up.
They don't gag her, she guesses Ethan wants her to speak, wants to hear her voice.
"Are you even gonna tell me why the hell you're doing this ? What, did I kill your brother or something?!" she says, still unable to break free.
"Oh, no, Faith, it's nothing personal, it was just, either you and Buffy, and seeing that you wouldn't be as missed as Buffy and of course there's also the fact that Giles would kill me if I touched her, no, you see, I had to pick you." he says, still coughing.
"Wait, you know Giles ?! And, what the hell do you mean by I had to pick you, that makes no f*cking sence!"
"Don't, worry, it'll all be over soon." he says and then he poors some green liquid over Faith's head, which makes her fall asleep.

When she wakes up, the bus is driving again, everything is still kinda blury for her, but she feels weak, very week.
Then she hears the busdriver, he yells that the next stop is L.A.
Faith has no idea what just happened, so she gets up to see if the busdriver is still filled with scars or if she just dreamt that.
When she gets up front she sees everything is normal, the man's face is very smooth, without scars.
"Sir, you have to stay behind the yellow line." he says and Faith startles.
"Sir ?" she says.
"Do I look like a sir to you ?!" she says, very insulted by the fact that someone would dare to call her sir.
"Well, yeah." the busdriver answers back.
Then Faith sees herself in the mirror, she's not Faith, strong looking, beautifull, no, she's old and ugly, and most of all, she's a man.
"OMG." she says, followed by a very bad cough, followed by all the lights dimming before her eyes.

"Sir, are you alright ?"
A doctor is standing in front of the bed Faith is lying on.
She can't even sit up straight, tha's how weak she is.
"I'm fine, where am I ?" she says.
"You're in a hospital, you collapsed in a bus driving to L.A. I seems you had a heartattack." he says.
He looks very concerned, but Faith doesn't, she can't believe all that's happening to her.
"Okay, so, what does that mean ? I mean, it's nothing serious, right ?" she says, she decided to just play along, she wants to know more about this body she's in, about why that guy switched body's with her, 'cause that's probably what happened.
"Sir, I'm sorry, but you haven't much time left, this third attack is about all your body can handle. I thought your previous doctor explained that to you." he said.
"Third attack ?" Faith knows it has to be serious now.
"Yes, your old doctor sent your medicall chart to us just a few minutes ago." he says, he is just about to leave when Faith decides to play amnesia guy.
"W... what's my name exactly ? I... kinda forgot, must be all the stress, bad for the heart, right ?" she says, cause she forgot that man's name, and she wants to know it.
"Yes, must be, your name is Ethan Rayne, sir."
"Right, thanks, just one last question doc., how long have I got left to live ?"
"A day, maybe two, it depends on how long your heart lasts."

Faith is sitting in a taxi now, she left the hospitall against their advice, and she was on her way to the lawfirm Wolfram & Hart.
That's where she was heading too before, when she was still herself, she heard Angel and Wesley worked there now, trying to do more good and that Buffy was staying there, temporary.
So, she knows exactly where to look for help.

She enters the W&H very slowly, not because she's scared, just because she's moving very slow, because of this body.
She walks over to the receptionist.
"W&H, how can I help you ?"
"Yeah, I'm looking for Angel, it's kinda urgent." she says, after the receptionist tell her where he is, Faith goes out to find him and the others.

When she enters the whole of Angel's departement, she remembers the last time she was there.
The last time she was there, she was a psychotic slayer who wanted to kill Angel.
God, that was a long time ago, she thinks.
Then she sees Wesley walking towards an office, where, no suprise there, Buffy and Angel are.
She follows him into the office, when Buffy sees her, or better, when she sees Ethan Rayne, she steps forward and hits Faith in the face.
Faith hasn't much strength now, she she fals into the ground.
"Woh, B., take it easy, will ya ? I'm here for help, okay ?" Faith says.
Buffy stands there with her arms crossed, looking at Faith in Ethan's body.
"And why the hell would I help you, Ethan ?" she says, she seems very mad for some reason.
Faith stands up.
"Wait, you know this guy too ? I mean, he told me he knew Giles, but I thought he was just lying or something, guess I was wrong." she says to herself, she makes absolutely no sense.
"I should just kill you where you stand, you're nothing, Ethan." Buffy says as she was about to walk out of the office.
"No, B., wait!" Faith yells.
"It's me, Faith!" she yells and Buffy turns around, while Wesley and Angel just watch.
Then Buffy begins to laugh.
"You have got to be kidding, me, right ?"
"No, I'm not kidding, and if you get red, euh, Willow here, then I could prove I'm me." Faith says, while she sits down in the nearest chair.

Ten minutes later Buffy comes back with Willow, Wesley and Angel held watch over Faith.
"Okay, proove it." Buffy says.
Then Faith stands up and pulls Willow apart, and tells her about her old friend Jenna, whom only Willow should know about.
"It's her." Willow says.
"Okay" Buffy says.
"So, why are you looking like Ethan Rayne ?" she asks.
Faith explains everything that happened to her on the bus and how those people were turned back to normal when she woke up and she was suddenly this man.
She also tells them she hasn't much time left, because of Ethan's heartcondition.

After thinking everything through, Willow says she can bring Ethan to them, Faith knows she can, because she did it before.
But she hasn't a clue yet on how to switch the bodies back, she tried to do it with the same spell she changed Buffy and Faith back all those years, but something was blocking her magic.
Something very powerfull.
A few minutes later, Willow works her magic mojo, a green light appears, followed by some sort of explosion, followed by Faith standing in the middle of the circle.
"It's over, Ethan." Buffy says.
"Give us back her body and, I won't kill you. How's that for a deal ?"
Ethan in Faith's body steps forward.
"Give back the body ? And, what, go back to that piece of junk." He looks at his former body with Faith now in it.
She looks very bad, with her hand across her heart.
"Buffy, we've gotta do something, fast, I don't think she has long left."
"Okay, then we fight." Buffy says and she hits Ethan in the face.
He's extraodrinary strong in Faith's body, even for her body, it's very strong, which makes Willow think he cast a spell on it too.
Buffy kicks him in the stomach, but he hardly feels it.
He hits Buffy a few times in the face, then kicks her several times until she is down, then Angel jumps into the mix.
Angel and Buffy together are stronger then Ethan, even if he's in Faith's body.
Angel hits him in the face, Buffy grabs his arm and holds him down.
"Willow, you gotta figure something out, right now!" Buffy yells.
Willow thinks for a few minutes and then jumps up.
"I got it!" she yells.
She helps Faith stand up and brings her to where Angel and Buffy are holding Ethan down.
"Okay, everybody, stand as still as possible." she says.
"A right that has been wronged,
A wrong that has made right.
Change these two into their natural selves,
change these two from shells."
A purple light appears, followed by a big bang, followed by everyone laying on the floor.
Faith stands up.
"Red, you really need to work on your spells, no way that has worked. I mean, I can make up better spells then that." she says.
"Eum, Faith." Willow says and she points at the mirror.
Faith looks into it and almost jumps into air of gladness.
"Finally, I'm me again. Man, being an old dying guy really sucks." she jokes, sort of.
When Faith turns to go to Ethan, she sees him still laying on the floor.
His eyes are wide open, so is his mouth, he has his hand to his heart.
Angel check his polls.
"He's gone." he says and he throws a blanket over him and calls someone in to take him away.
"I guess his heart finally gave up." Faith says.
"Why do you think he did this to you, Faith ?" Willow asked.
"Why else, to live, of course." she says.
"Well, Faith, it was, good, to see you,but I have to continue my work now." Wesley says, it's the first time he spoke since Faith got there.
"Wes., wait!" she says; he stops walking away.

"Look, the reason I cam to L.A., was to see you, Wes, adn you, B. and Angel, you too. Cause eum, there's something I need to say to you guys."
"Faith, you don't..." Angel begins but Faith interrupts him.
"No, Angel, I do. Look, I'm not good with sorry's and stuff, but, apart from the people I killed, you three are the people I hurt the most."
"I can't argue with you there." Buffy says and she sits down, rather close to ANgel, which makes Faith think they're a couple again or something.
"Right, I just, I, look, I'm, I'm... sorry, okay, I'm sorry. I regret what I did, and eum, I know you'll probably never forgive me and stuff, but, I just wanted you guys to know." she says and with that she walks away.

"Faith, wait!" Angel yells out.
SHe turns around and sees Angel, Wesley and Buffy standing there, it looks like they all ran out after her.
"I did forgive you, a long time ago." Angel says.
Faith nods, she looks at Buffy and Wesley, who nod too, she knows that they'll need more time, and she can live with that.
At least now they know, they know she's sorry for what she did.
With that having said, she returns home.

Maybe, now, happiness can come.
Maybe I've started to earn it now.
Yeah, maybe...
