Spike carried Buffy home and tucked her in bed 1 hour before sunset. Not sure if he was allowed to stay, he quietly left his sleeping slayer.
Buffy murmured and looked for Spike’s hard body, but he wasn’t there. She opened her eyes and frowned when she was alone in her won bed. She frowned and sat up.
Miserably, she went downstairs and found Dawn in the kitchen. “Hey, Dawn,” she said, sitting at the counter.
“Morning,” Dawn said, but didn’t look at her.
“I’m sorry about last night,” Buffy said. “I’m just not used to the whole Spike thing yet.”
“But he loves you,” Dawn said, looking at her sister.
“And for the first time in my life, I really need that,” Buffy whispered. “And I don’t think I can live without him/”
“So don’t drive him away,” Dawn said.
“But I’m not ready to…” She paused to choose her next words carefully. “I’m not ready to deal with something this complicated. I need to be myself again before I can even think about Spike.”
“But he can help,” Dawn said. “You’re doing too many things at once by yourself.”
“I’m scared to get close to Spike,” Buffy admitted softly.
“Try it and you might like it,” Dawn said, softly. “I’m not asking you to marry him. Just trust him.”
“I already trust him,” Buffy said. “I think.”
Dawn smiled. “Just talk to him,” she whispered. “I gotta go to school.”
“I’ll see you alter,” Buffy said, as Dawn left. Sighing she grabbed her coat and left as well.
