Dawn shut the door and noticed everyone looking at her, including Buffy. “I hope you’re happy,” she said, softly.
“What do you mean? What did he do?” Buffy asked, coldly.
“He left,” Dawn said. “He said he loves you and he’s leaving,” she whimpered.
“Probably so he didn’t get his ass kicked,” Xander said.
Dawn ignored him and continued to look at Buffy. “He was gunna get $5000 for those eggs and he was gunna give the money to us so you wouldn’t have to work at the Palace anymore. He knew you wouldn’t let him explain so he didn’t bother. Now the only good thing in our life is leaving because of you,” she spat.
Tears were slipping out of Buffy’s eyes. “Oh my god,” she whispered. She looked at Dawn. “He’s not leaving,” she said, running out the door.
Dawn watched as her sister flew in the direction of Spike’s crypt and prayed she’d make it in time.
Buffy put on a burst of speed and her feet were practically flying. She felt relief wash over her as Spike’s crypt came into view.
Spike sighed and turned only to have the door fly open and Buffy jump into his arms. The force surprised him and they fell to the ground.
Buffy pushed herself up and sat on his hips. “You cant leave,” she said.
Spike pushed Buffy off him. “I already had this argument with Dawn. Not gunna get into it with you,” he said.
Buffy sat on the floor and looked up at him. “Why are you leaving?” She asked.
“Because, its killing the both of us and for some reason, you’re ex made me realize that,” Spike said, walking out of the crypt.
Buffy scrambled to her feet. “Spike,” she said, going after him.
Spike paused and bowed his head. “Buffy, I have to do this before something bad happens.” He turned to look at her. “I didn’t wanna be like everyone else and leave you, but I cant keep letting you do this to yourself.”
“Why wont you even give me a chance to think about it?” Buffy asked, softly as tears welled in her eyes.
“’Cause it will be easier on the both of us if I just leave. That’s why I went to see Dawn,” he said.
“You weren’t even gunna say goodbye to me?” Buffy asked, hurt.
“No. That would have made it harder,” Spike said.
“What about everything that we’ve been through?” Buffy asked.
“What have we been through, Buffy? You’ve done nothing but hurt me and I allowed it. There’s nothing left. I tried to be what you want but that didn’t work out too well,” he said, walking away from her.
“But I don’t know what I want,” Buffy said.
“So what am I supposed to do?” Spike asked, turning around. “Watch you kill yourself, doing this until you figure out that its wrong? No thanks, Buffy. Lost you once. It wont hurt as much if I let you go.”
“And what about me?” Buffy asked, not even trying to keep her tears from falling. “What am I supposed to do?”
“Live,” Spike said, softly.
“For what? You are the only thing that’s worth it. I can live with out everyone else. But I cannot live without you,” Buffy said.
Spike walked over to her and cradled her face between his hands. He ran his thumbs over her cheeks. “Yes you can.”
“Only if you kill me and send me back to heaven. If you leave and don’t kill me, I’ll just lay here and let something else do it,” she said.
“That’s not fair, Buffy and you know it. You’re giving me an ultimatum,” Spike said.
“No, I’m giving you a choice. If you leave, I’ll die. If you stay, we can try to work things out,” she said, her hands coming up to his.
“Buffy, you have to want this. If you make me stay, it’s going to be forever,” he said, softly.
Buffy walked into his arms and brought her arms around his neck. “Yes, I want this. I need to have you with me, Spike. And I have reasons for everything that’s been going on,” she said, leaning her forehead against his.
“You gunna share them with me?” Spike asked, his arms around her waist.
“Tomorrow, after I slept,” she said, laying her head on his chest.
“I’ll take you home,” Spike said.
“Just hold me for a little longer,” Buffy pleaded.
