Spike ran into the vineyard, his skin sizzling slightly from the sun. He was majorly pissed off and ran downstairs, where Buffy was fighting Caleb. “I could’ve helped,” he said, crossing his arms.
Buffy looked at him and ducked a punch. “What are you doing here?” She asked.
“We’ll talk about it later,” he said.
Buffy and Spike rescued the girls and used the newly retrieved scythe. They killed they vampires and proceeded home.
Once at the house, the girls were being treated and Willow was researching the scythe along with Giles.
Buffy changed her clothes and trudged to the basement.
Spike looked at her. “Hey,” he said.
Buffy went over and sat on his cot. “How come you followed me?” She asked.
Spike was standing a few feet in front of her. “I was scared, Buffy,” he said, softly. “I thought I was gunna lose you.”
Buffy met his gaze. “Come ‘ere,” she whispered, moving over on the cot.
Spike went over and sat next to her.
Buffy shifted so she was facing him. “I knew what I was doing,” she said.
“Last night you wanted to give up so I thought you were gunna let the preacher finish you off,” he said.
“I kinda had a wake up call last night,” Buffy said, smiling a little. “I had no reason to give up.”
Spike smiled and looked away from her eyes.
Buffy frowned and laid her head on his shoulder. “Didn’t mean to scare you,” she said, softly.
Spike relaxed and laid his head on hers. “I love you,” he whispered, before he could stop himself.
Buffy shivered at his touch. “Spike…” she whispered, picking her head up. “I know that last night was pretty intense for the both of us, but nothing’s changed,” she whispered, sadly.
Anger swelled inside of Spike. “How can you say that?” He flared, getting away from her quickly.
Buffy looked at him with wide eyes. “Spike…”
“Save it,” Spike growled, going upstairs and leaving.
Buffy heard the back door slam and tears welled her eyes. “Spike,” she whispered to herself.
