After an hour, Emily and Spike came through the door.
Buffy looked up and got to her feet. “Spike,” she said, softly.
Spike went toward her but didn’t touch her. “We should talk,” he said.
Buffy nodded and the two of them went upstairs.
Once they were in shut inside one of the empty rooms, Buffy jumped in his arms, pressing her lips against his.
Spike kissed her back but had to pull away. “We need to talk first,” he said.
Buffy laid her head on his shoulder. “I know but I missed you so much,” she whispered.
Spike’s arms enclosed over her body and he pulled her close to him. “I missed you, too, Pet.”
Buffy sniffled. “Why didn’t you call me?” She asked, softly.
Spike moved away from her. “Buffy, there’s a lot you don’t understand. I’ve gone through a lot since I’ve been back,” he said.
Buffy sat on the bed and swallowed the large lump in her throat. “Well, tell me so I understand,” she said.
Spike proceeded to tell her everything from when he came back ‘til the final battle. “And now you’re here,” he finished.
Buffy looked up at him with soft eyes. “What stopped you from coming to find me?”
“I didn’t know how. What was I gunna do? Drop in on your door step? I don’t think so,” Spike said, sitting next to her.
“Someone could have called me and I would’ve come to you,” she said.
“I didn’t wanna drop back into your life again, Buffy. I wanted you to be happy and from what I can tell, you are,” he said, softly.
“But I need you,” Buffy said, tears welling in her eyes.
Spike pushed her hair out of her eyes. “You have a life now, Buffy. I’m prepared to deal with the fact that it doesn’t include me anymore. My place is here now,” he said.
“What about Emily?” Buffy asked. “She’s your daughter.”
“And I love her very much but things are different now,” Spike said.
Buffy stood up and wrapped her arms around herself. “Spike we need you and we love you,” she whispered.
Spike’s eyes softened. “Buffy, I don’t know what you want me to do,” he said.
“We’ll move to L.A.,” Buffy said. “We’ll help you and Angel. Dawn’s been training and Emily’s a slayer,” she said.
Spike raised and eyebrow. “Really?”
Buffy smiled and went over to him. “Yeah. Dawn can kick your ass, now,” she said, standing between his knees.
“I doubt it,” Spike said, resting his hands on her hips.
Buffy leaned down and kissed him softly.
EPILOUGE
Spike walked down the stairs and smiled at Buffy arguing with Emily.
“But Mom,” Emily whined.
“No. Absolutely not,” Buffy said.
Spike went over and kissed Buffy’s hair. “Fight nice, girls,” he said, going to the fridge.
“Dad, am I old enough to go patrolling?” Emily asked.
Spike raised an eyebrow. “You don’t let her patrol alone?”
“No, why?” Buffy asked.
“Dawn goes all the time,” Spike said, absently.
“She does? Since when?” Buffy asked.
“Since she asked me,” Spike said. “Let her go with Dawn.”
Buffy crossed her arms. “Spike,” she said.
“Don’t do that,” Spike said. “Cant hold on to them forever.”
Buffy looked at Emily. “Fine, you can go with Dawn,” she said.
“Cool!” Emily squealed, hugging her parents.
Buffy looked at Spike as Emily went upstairs.
Spike kissed her softly before she could scold him.
