Angel remained silent after she finished the story. Then he sighed. "Why didn't you tell me sooner?" he asked her softly.
Buffy shuddered. "I always thought that it was my fault." she said.
Angel held her for a moment. She closed her eyes, and a few tears leaked out. "The nightmares are coming back again. If Eve managed to reassemble her mind she'll come after me. I know it."
Angel caught her hand in his. "I won't let anything happen to you." he told her. Buffy opened her eyes. "My legs should be better by tommorrow." she said. "I'll just have to avoid training."
Angel nodded. "You should probably get some rest." he told her. Buffy got up. "Yeah, you're right." she said. "See you tommorrow.?"
Angel smiled slightly. "See you." he told her.
* * *
"Hey! Buffy's back!" said Xander as she sat down in the library. Giles came out of his office.
"I was going to have you train yesterday." he informed her. Buffy shrugged.
"I got sick. Besides..." her voice trailed off as the library doors opened.
Becky and Laura came into the library. They stopped when they saw her, then turned and smiled eakly at Giles.
"Um, can we get some books?" Becky asked Giles. He nodded, and went to get the books.
Laura turned to look at Buffy, and opened her mouth to say something. Buffy looked away, and Laura closed her mouth, looking vaguely uncomfortable.
Something was very wrong. Buffy could feel it.
The doors opened again. Eve walked through them.
