Buffy woke just before dusk, and stretched. Her legs felt much better. She would have ugly scars, but what else was new?
Pulling on the leather jacket that Angel had given her, she left the house, and began her patrol.

Buffy entered the mansion. Angel was waiting for her in the garden, and she slid onto the bench next to him.
Angel's nostrils flared, and he gave her a strange look. "Buffy, why do I smell bacon fat?" he asked her.
"I had some bacon this morning." replied Buffy quickly. Angel gave her a look. "And why are herbs mixed with it?"
Buffy got up, and started to walk away. "I don't need this." she told him, heading for the exit. She tripped, and sat down far too hard on a stone bench. Her legs screamed in protest. Unable to hold it in, she let out a small hiss of pain.
Angel was at her side immediately. "You're hurt." he accused her. Buffy shook her head. "It's nothing." she said.
Angel shook his head. "Let me see."
Buffy hesitated. Angel grabbed a knife out of nowhere, and cut one leg of her pants open. She glared at him, and he ignored her.
Angel carefully peeled the bandages off. She could hear him suck in his breath as her looked at the injuries.
"Has Giles seen these?" he asked her. Buffy looked away. Angel sighed.
"Where did you get these?"
Buffy remained obdurately silent. Angel grabbed her chin, and forced her to look at him. She remained stonily silent, and glared at him.
"Buffy..." he said warningly. Just then, a vision hit her out of nowhere.
