Part Two
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Buffy landed in the sewers in a crouch, stake out. She straightened up and looked warily around.
Whistler was about five feet in front of her. He had a flashlight, and he switched it on.
"This way. Don't they ever clean down here? Man."
Buffy ignored the grumbling demon, and followed him down the sewer pipe. Whistler turned eventually. To face a blank wall.
"Well? You took me down here to show me a blank wall?"
Buffy was more than a little annoyed. Whistler shook his head. "Nah. Watch."
Whistler took a deep breath and stepped through the wall.
Buffy looked closer at the wall of the sewage pipe. Now that she looked closer, it seemed not entirely real. Cautiously she reached out to touch it. Her hand went into it. It felt like thin air.
"Illusion." she whispered to herself. Shaking her head, she stepped through the wall.

Buffy emerged into a brightly lit corridor. Carvings of monsters and heroes were on the walls. The floor was tiled.
"Well? You coming?" called an impatient Whistler. Buffy turned and saw the demon waiting in a side corridor.
"What is this place, Whistler?" she asked him as they walked down the hall.
"This is one of the last real places of power for the side of Good. It's a safe haven from any intending evil. That goes for humans, too."
"So where is everybody?" asked Buffy.
"Around the world, spread pretty thinly around. You aren't the only hero around."
"Who else?"
"Hmmm. You've got various Immortal demon hunters, the warrior priestesses of the Temple of the Triple Goddess, various witches, half-elfs, Fay, and very young dragons."
Buffy looked at him in amazement. "Faeries are real?"
"Heck yeah. Oh yeah. Something else you should know. About the Immortals."
"And...?"
"Immortals can only be killed by decapitation. but leave the area quickly. There will be a light show that puts the Fourth of July to shame. Here are some of the names of people who will help you. Not all Immortals are friendly."
"Duncan Macleod can be trusted, as well as his pupil, Richie Ryan. Amanda will help you, Methos, Cassandra, and Connor Macleod are also willing to lend a hand."
"Avoid Hanna, Felicia Martin, or anyone with wierd tatoos on their wrists. This excludes Joe Dawson."
Buffy nodded, taking this all in. "Why don't the Watchers stay here?" she asked Whistler.
"They don't know about it. They usually end up making up mistakes that cost them some of the best slayers that ever were. They also have a notorious record for Slayers going bad."
Buffy looked at him in shock. "What!?"
Whistler nodded grimly. "It's true. Some Slayers have accidently killed humans, or thought that they were above the law because they were superhuman. What they forgot was that they were mortal."
Buffy shuddered. Whistler gave her a look. "You aren't all heroes, you know. Most of you are, though."
The two stopped in front of a door. Whistler handed her a key. "This is gonna be your place. Take a bath and put on something that does'nt smell like sewer."
Buffy watched the demon walk off down the hall. With a shrug, she unlocked the door and stepped into the room.
