Spike looked at Buffy who was staring blankly. “We gotta do something,” he said, going toward the door.
“Spike, where are you going?” Willow asked.
Spike paused and looked at her. “I’m going to find Dawn,” he said.
“Glory will kill you,” Willow said.
“And what do you think she’s gunna do to Dawn? I’m not gunna let Buffy lose her,” he said, leaving.
Spike followed Dawn’s scent to an old construction site.
He ducked into a man hole cover and he heard Dawn’s sobs.
He got into the basement and heard her through a vent. “Nibblet?”
“Spike?” Dawn whispered, as she crawled over to the vent.
“Where’s the hell bitch?” Spike asked.
“Out side,” Dawn said. “I’m alone.”
Spike pushed the vent up and pulled her down. “Come on. We gotta get out of here,” he said.
“Spike, I’m still banged up so don’t go so fast,” she said.
Spike scooped her up and ran through the sewers.
He lifted the man hole cover next to Xander’s apartment and pushed Dawn out.
He jumped out and scooped her up again.
Spike carried her to Xander’s place and walked through the front door. “Stay here,” he said, putting her down.
“No,” Dawn whimpered. “I don’t wanna be alone,” she said, following him to the bedroom.
Buffy was crying in Willow’s arms.
“Buffy?” Dawn asked.
Buffy picked her head up from Willow’s shoulder. “Dawn?”
Dawn went over to her. “I’m ok,” she said. “Spike came and got me.”
Buffy looked at Spike. “You did?”
“Yeah,” Spike said.
Buffy stood up and gave him a hug. “Thank you,” she whispered.
Spike hugged her tightly. “Always welcome,” he said.
“We gotta get to the magic shop,” Willow said.
Buffy pulled away from Spike. “Spike, watch Dawn and take her through the sewers,” she said. “We’ll meet you there.”
Spike scooped up Dawn and they left.
At the magic box, Spike sat with Dawn in his lap. “It’ll be okay,” he said, kissing her hair.
“The blood opens the portal. The portal will close when the blood stops,” Giles said.
Dawn picked her head up with tears in her eyes. “What does that mean?”
Spike picked Dawn up. “Come on, Nibblet,” he said. “I’ll explain it to you.”
Buffy smiled a little and wrapped her arms around herself. “It’s better that we talk about it with out Dawn,” she said.
