When she woke up the next morning, Buffy had a splitting headache, "Mom." She called out but she never came, "Mom!" She yelled and then groaned as her head started pounding.
"What is it sweetie?" Joyce stepped into her doorway and stood there for a second.
"I can barely lift my head i have a really bad headache. Can I take some of your painkillers and go in late when it goes away?" She prayed her mom would say yes. all she needed was painkillers and sleep.
Her mom walked across the room and put her hand on her daughters forehead, "Oh baby you're burning up. Are you ok? I'll go get the thermometer."
"Mom I'm fine it's just my head is killing me. It's like i got thrown against a brick wall or something." She rubbed her temples and watched her mom leave the room. She tried remembering her dream with everything she had in her. Then it hit her like a big red bus:
Fog drifted close to the ground and at least six feet up. It was thick andn nearly impossible to see through. Her arms were outstretched so she didnt run into anything, then she felt it. Cold, thick, sweaty hands wrapped around her neck from behind her. Her hands automatically grabbed them and tried to pull.
"Shh little girl. No struggling, go easy."
The mans voice was soothing, smooth and accompanied by the hands wrapped tightly around her throat, it nearly put her to sleep,"No. ahh grhh." She struggled to breath and then felt his grip loosen and she was tossed aside like a rag doll. She hit a tree face first and fell to the ground. She quivered andn gasped like a fish out of water, until he came and stepped right on her throat.
"You wouldn't go easy so now I gotta force ya." His voice was now deep and hoarse and nothign like it was before. He lifted his foot and slammed it back down...
And that was all she remembered, "Maybe when I hit the tree..." Buffy mumbled. But then again she didn't even know it if was her. She never saw the persons face clearly. But then again, it had to be, where else would the pain be coming from.
"What honey?" her mother asked and handed Buffy a glass of water and pain killers then after she swallowed, she stuck a thermometer in her mouth.
"Nothing." She mumbled and then when the thermometer beeped, she took it out of her mouth but Joyce snatched it from her.
"97.4. Normal. But yeah you can stay home until you feel better. But I have to go to the gallery. Get some rest?" And with that she kissed the top of her head and was off.
