Spike walked toward the Doublemeat Palace and looked inside. He saw Buffy dragging herself across the floor with a strange woman behind her. “Buffy!”
“Spike,” Buff whimpered. “I cant move.”
Spike went in and pushed the woman away from Buffy. He looked at the weak slayer. “We gotta get you outta here,” he said, holding his hand out.
Buffy grasped his hand. “Spike, I’m paralyzed,” she whimpered.
Spike pulled her up and quickly scooped her into his arms. “Is it permanent?” He asked.
“I don’t know,” Buffy said, relaxing in his arms.
“Lets get you home, and Red can find out what she can do,” he aid.
“No,” Buffy said. “I don’t know wanna go home.”
“Where do you wanna go, then?” Spike asked.
“Your place,” Buffy said, laying her head on his shoulder.
Spike walked to his crypt and maneuvered Buffy downstairs and laid her in his bed. “You alright?”
“It wearing off,” she said, looking at him. “What were you doing at my job?”
“I had a bad feeling,” Spike said. “I always get a bad feeling when you and Dawn are in trouble. Usually I check on Dawn first because I know you can handle yourself.”
Buffy smiled. “Thank you,” she said softly.
“For what?” Spike asked.
“Pretty much everything,” Buffy said. “You’re done more for me and Dawn then anyone else in our lives except maybe Mom.”
“You girls are important to me,” Spike said.
“I know,” Buffy said, wiggling her toes.
“Dawn’s a piece of work though. Besides being a hormonal teenager, she’s basically you. Except instead of kicking my ass, she gives me the pout and the eyes,” he said. “She’s gets just about anything she wants.”
Buffy laughed softly. “It only works on the guys but she mostly uses it just on you,” she said.
“I think she’s mad at me though,” Spike mumbled.
“Why do you think that?” Buffy asked.
“Because I haven’t been around,” Spike said. “I uses to be with her all the time.”
“Until I came back,” Buffy said, turning on her side.
“Yeah. I didn’t..” Spike paused. “When I found out you came back, I thought you were gunna be mad at me.”
“Why would….” Buffy pushed herself up. “You thought I’d be mad because I jumped.”
“Yeah. I really tried to get to her Buffy but I wasn’t good enough. If I had saved her, you wouldn’t have jumped and Dawn wouldn’t have gone through all that pain. And you wouldn’t be in the pain you are now,” Spike said.
Buffy ran her hands over his face. “I wasn’t mad. And I’m not now. I’m just scared,” she said.
Spike eyebrows furrowed. “Of what?”
“These feelings I keep having,” Buffy said, laying down.
“Buffy, I cant help you if you don’t tell me how,” Spike said, laying next to her.
“Spike, there’s just so much that I have to say and I don’t think it’s a good idea for me to uncover everything I’ve worked to keep hidden,” Buffy said, softly.
“Maybe it’s better if you let it out,” Spike said, not wanting to upset her.
“Spike, I care about you. I don’t love you and I don’t know if I ever will. When came out of my grave, I was so upset and scared. Then at the house, you took care of me and I’ve never felt so warm. I lost my peace when I was torn from heaven, but I got part of that back. When I’m with you, the world goes away, and its just us. I haven’t felt that since before Angel lost his soul. I feel so much when you’re with me but I don’t feel anything when you’re not around. Just being in the same room, makes me happy. I didn’t mean to be such a bitch to you. I tried so hard to make things better for us but things got so out of control in my life. You’re the only thing that makes any sense at all,” she said.
Spike kissed her hair softly. “Feel better?”
“A little,” she said, lifting her head. “Do you wanna come with me to the magic box? I just have to talk to the gang then we can go home.”
Spike smiled. “Can you walk?” He asked.
Buffy reluctantly climbed out of bed. “I think so,” she said.
Spike got of bed and helped her out of the crypt.
