Buffy curled up on her bed, exhausted from her patrol with Spike.
“Buffy?” Came Dawn’s upset voice.
“Yeah?” Buffy called, hearing her sister’s distress.
Dawn opened the door and had tears in her eyes. “Buffy, um…there was…an accident,” she said.
Buffy sat up. “Come here,” she said, opening her arms.
Dawn ran to her sister’s arms and sobbed. “It’s really bad Buffy,” she whimpered.
Buffy stroked Dawn’s hair. “Sweetie, tell me what happened,” she said.
“Spike,” Dawn whimpered.
“What about Spike?” Buffy asked, worry in her voice.
“He’s gone,” Dawn cried.
“Maybe he’s out having a smoke,” Buffy said, trying to soothe her sister.
Dawn shook her hair and looked at her sister. “There’s a pile of dust on his bed with a stake. It looks like he staked himself,” she said.
“No,” Buffy said, shaking her head. “He wouldn’t do that. He was fine.”
“Giles disappeared too,” Dawn said.
Tears came to Buffy’s eyes as a feeling of grief fell over her. “No!” She screamed.
Willow and Xander came upstairs, knowing why she was screaming. They didn’t say anything, for there was nothing they could say. They joined the Summer’s sisters on the bed and gave them hugs.
Buffy sobbed uncontrollably. “He cant be gone. He cant,” she whispered, on Willow’s shoulder.
Willow and Xander did their best to comfort the two girls, but it appeared they couldn’t be consoled.
“Willow?” Buffy asked. “Can you call Angel, but don’t tell him why.”
Willow nodded and untangled herself from the distraught woman.
