"Well it was nice meeting you, Buffy. Willow, let me know when you decide on what our project should be about," said Megabyte as he and Adam started walk the opposite way from Buffy and company.

"Yes, it was a pleasure to meet all of you. Xander, let me know when I can get that baseball card from you. Good-bye. Hope to see yeah around again," Adam called to the three friends as he telepathically said to Megabyte *This was fun but I am tired. While Buffy seems nice, there is something about her that is strange and powerful.*

*I don't know. She just seems a little reserved to me, but then I am not as sensitive as you are,* Megabyte returned to him. Aloud he said, "Bye, guys. See ya in school!"

"See ya guys later," replied Xander, Buffy, and Willow as they turned and started to walk away, heading toward home.

Buffy turned and looked back to watch Adam and Megabyte as she, Willow and Xander continued on their way. She still sensed that something was weird with them especially with Adam. His weirdness felt stronger and more powerful than Megabyte's, but she supposed that he seemed nice.

Suddenly, Buffy felt vampires close by. She turned and scanned the area, motioning for Xander and Willow to be quiet and still. She looked toward where Megabyte and Adam had gone. That was where the vampires she sensed seemed to be. She pulled a stake out of her purse and handed it to Xander. Then she quickly placed one of her own inside the pocket of the jacket that Angel had given her. She noticed that Willow had pulled out a cross from her own purse. "Come on. They may need help." She took off at run to catch up to where Megabyte and Adam had gone around a corner and out of sight. Willow and Xander followed, not quite able to keep up.

Instead of teleporting as soon as they were out of site, Megabyte and Adam had continued walking toward Megabyte's house. They both had the feeling that they where being followed and/or being watched and that they should not teleport unless they were sure that no one was around. Unless, of course, it was a life or death emergency. They should have teleported. They were right that they were being followed. Two burly vampires had spotted them and decided that they were perfect for a late night snack.

The vampires were not the only ones interested in Adam and Megabyte, however. Several men dressed in dark clothing were also waiting for them, hidden in a paneled chevy van parked just down the street. One of the men was watching them walk toward the van in a pair of night vision binoculars.

"Remember that they must be taken out quickly or they will teleport to safety."

"Understood," replied the three other men

"Good, I failed once to capture these brats, but I will not fail again," smiled Col. Masters.

Several things happened in the next few moments. Adam and Megabyte were walking past an alleyway when the two burly vampires suddenly grabbed them from behind. At the same time that they were grabbed by the fang gang, Masters's men jumped out of the van and opened fire on the two teleporters. As Masters's men opened fire with the tranquilizer guns, Buffy, Xander and Willow rounded the corner at a dead run.

That's when all hell broke loose. The vampires took most of the tranquilizer darts, which did not phase them in the least. One did hit Megabyte, however, and a second grazed Adam. The vampires turned to the men and growled, showing them the business end of their fangs which immediately caused them to back away. What the vampires did not realize was that while they had turned their backs to face the gunmen the Slayer had quickly taken stock of the situation and had decided to attack. Buffy grabbed the dazed and nearly unconscious Megabyte. In one fluid motion she shoved Megabyte toward Xander, who caught him, and staked the vampire who had been holding him. Just as quickly, she grabbed Xander's stake, which had been dropped as the Slayerette caught Megabyte. During that time, Willow stuck the cross on Adam's attacker, who immediately released the boy and howled in pain. The vampire then turned to face Willow, ready to attack her cross or no cross when Buffy staked it from behind turning it to dust.

With the vampires gone, the previously stunned gunmen regained their composure. Instead of teleporting as soon as they were out of sight, they had quickly started to reload their weapons, intending to and fire upon and finish off the two dazed teleporters. However, Buffy immediately jumped in front of them and began punching and roundhouse kicking the three. She knocked one back about 15 feet with one punch and the other two went down after a few well placed kicks. The only problem was that one was able to fire. A dart hit Willow, causing her to hit the ground unconscious. Seeing her friend fall caused Buffy to stop to check on her, thus allowing Masters time to call for a retreat.

Xander released his hold on Megabyte as Willow went down. Dazed and confused, Adam believed that the gunmen were still a threat so he stumbled to Megabyte and dropped down to his side and looked up just as Buffy sent a large and heavy crate flying toward the fleeing gunmen. Not really thinking clearly, and after seeing the Slayer's strength, he thought that she might also be a threat so he concentrated and teleported both Megabyte and himself to the ship.

After finding that Willow was okay, Buffy became pissed off. Not only were there vampires attacking her friends, but also gunmen. She looked up as the men fled. Seeing a large wooden crate nearby, she picked it up and hurled it toward the van. The crate hit the last man as he was getting into the van and dented the side of the van. Instead of pursuing them, though, she opted to check on Adam and Megabyte who she knew had both been hit. Just as she turned to do this, she saw Adam and Megabyte disappear in a flash of light. She turned to Xander and asked, "Did you just see that too?" She receive a vague uh-huh in reply. They both looked at each other and said "We gotta talk to Giles."

The speeding van, with Masters and his men, was headed toward their hideout when a the cellular phone Masters carried began to ring. Masters, still pissed off by the failed attempt, snapped up the phone and yelled "What...!" After a few seconds, his expression changed from one of anger to one of fearfulness. "Sorry, Lady Mulvaney I did not mean to snap at you..." After listening to the woman on the other end of the phone line, he began, "Don't worry. The teleporters have escaped me this time, but they will not again. I believe that they have some friends that live here that I can use against them. I will notify you when I capture them."

These friends might even be of interest. That blonde girl seemed to have unusual strength and agility...could she be a new kind of tomorrow person? While she did not teleport, she did have a few useful characteristics: she could fight and she could kill. That made her another use for Lady Mulvaney and could possibly make-up for the failed attempts to capture the teleporters. Although, personally he thought her plan to use them to ransom off to governments--to use against the threat of having bombs teleported into sensitive areas--was a little on the crazy side, it might work. This blonde might prove difficult to find and capture, but he figured the payoff would be worth it. He decided that she must still be in school because she only looked like see was perhaps only 16 or 17. Now he only had to find out who she was, and where she lived. His thoughts where interrupted by the driver activating the automatic garage door of the house that they were using as a hideout.

Masters said "Hanson, you are the computer expert. I want you to hack into the local high school and search for all people who fit the description of that girl and her friends that attacked us tonight. The boy called the name 'Willow' so check for that name. The rest of you, get some rest so you will be ready to go tomorrow."

"Okay, boss, will do. I want to make that girl pay for this black eye that she gave me," replied Hanson.

"Sure thing," added the other two battered and bruised men and the untouched driver of the van.
