It'll take just mere days, now. Then, Spike will be William.
It wasn't bloody fair.
***************************************************************************************************
Cassie picked up her baby boy from the cot he was in-too small to have a bed, and she's too overprotective to take any risks.
She gives him a bath, and put him in clean clothes.
But, she notices somethings a little off about him.
*****************************************************************************************************
Connor slipped out of his bed, and quickly dressed, heading down the stairs for breakfast. Angel's there, as is Mary.
"Where's Clayton?" He asked, slipping into his seat.
"They came and picked him up earlier. They decided to go away somewhere for this week, and wanted to beat traffic." Mary says, yawning a little.
***************************************************************************************************
Gunn pulled on clean lothes, and sliped a stake into the jean pocket. It may be quiet, but he learned a long time ago to always be prepared.
He sighed, and left his apartment, heading for Angel's.
********************************************************************************************************
Again, Angel, Connor, Gunn, Illyria, and Spike go out for lunch.
Mary had work, as did Cassie, so they tought it was safe enough.
"It's got a surreal feel to it." Gunn said. "It's sunny, and warm, and very quiet."
"And saying something might shatter everything. So, you speak quietly." Connor said thoughtfully.
"But it's loud in the pub." Spike added, sitting up straight. He wanted a drink or a smoke, but was too young to do both, and too human. He was really *really* beginning to hate it.
It was quite late for lunch, so the little resturant they were in was almost completely emplty of customers.
It really did seem too quiet, to surreal.
It usually meant something was coming.
It wouldn't be long, now, they thought.
Nothing happened that day.
(**************************************************************************************)
The next day, when they were out again, is when it happened. THey were joined with Cassie that day.
They weren't expecting it then.
(******************************************************************************************)
!BANG!
!CRASH!
!SIZZLE!
!SCREAM!
The window of one of the sops were broken, smashed to little pieces. Hundred thousands of little peices of glass went flying, as a car crashed through.
Then the sizzling sound of burning flesh before the fire, as the gas leaked from the car, and there was already a flame lit on the cooker. The place burned.
Screams erupted from the car and the people in said shop&cafe.
*******************************************************************************************
Mary was dead.
********************************************************************************************
They attended a funeral two days later, all in mourning.
The house was filled with silence.
*******************************************************************************************
"I was filled with feelings that were not my own. I did not like it." Illyria informed.
Cherry had long since left, taking her mini family with her. Now, Angel, Cassie, Connor, Spike, Gunn and Illyria sat in the living room.
Cassie had fallen asleep, Spike on her lap, also asleep.
"That's generally what happens when a funeral occurs." Angel morosly said.
"So, what do we do now?" Connor asked. "I mean, now it's dark, and a thunder storms happening."
"We should really try to get back. To the place we belong." Angel said.
"But what if our place is here now?" Gunn asked. "Maybe we were brought here for a reason."
"We could try."
"What, now?"
Angel just shrugged.
********************************************************************************************
Angel had put Cassie to bed, and left a note saying that he was taking Illryria-Fred, home, as well as Gunn, and that he had William.
Spike, now in Angel's arms, was awoken by rain falling on his head. He shook his head, as Angel put he hood over him.
Angel sat Spike in the boosterseat in the back of the car, leaving Illyria and Connor to sit in the middle and end seat. Gunn sat in the passanger seat, and Angel slipped in behind the wheel.
"Are we gettin' back yet?" Spike asked, rubbing his eyes.
"We don't really know how to."
"I wanna go home." He said petulantly.
"We're working on it." Connor muttered.
"I *can't* go t' sleep 'gain." He said.
"Why not?"
He seemed to shrink in his seat. "I forget when I do."
**************************************************************************************************
After trying to stay awake Spike felt his eyes demanding to be shut. He was downstairs with Connor, both in their respective pj's, which consisted of sweats and a shirt for Conor, watching TV. Angel had already gone to sleep, and Cassie had yet to wake.
Soon, though, his eyes slipped closed, and he was asleep.
Connor looked at him, picked him up, and carried him to his bed. Once he was settled in and secured, Connor went backdownstairs to the TV.
******************************************************************************************
Cassie woke up, yawning. She felt much better. But then, she remembered that her mum wouldn't be making breakfast that morning.
Slowly, she climbed out of bed and got dressed.
Before heading downstairs, she checked on her son, watching him sleep. She loved watching him sleep, the rise and fall of his chest as he bretahed.
Shaking herself, she went to the kitchen.
To make breakfast.
******************************************************************************************
It was another dark day, full of rain, and thunder, and wet mud.
They thought it was good, in a way. Someone they loved had just dies, and even nature seemed to mourn the death.
******************************************************************************************************
Cassie was almost finished cooking, when she saw her baby boy slowly walking towards her.
"And how did you get out of bed, young man?" She asked, crouching down to his level.
"I's a ge-ni-ous." He giggled.
"Well, Mr. Genious, take a seat, and prepare for General Breakfast."
He saluted. "Yes, ma'am." He climbed onto his seat, only the top of his head can be seen over the table.
"*you're* seat, William."
He managed to get into the high chair without it falling over.
Once breakfast was made, she set out three plates, keeping William's on the counter.
"You wait there while I go wait Grandpa and Uncle Connor."
"Ok."
She smiled, and left the kitchen.
*****************************************************************************************
Angel grunted as he was woken, but stood. He kissed Cassie's forehead before she left, and dressed.
Down the stairs, he was bombarded by a three year old boy.
"Gampa!" He cried.
Catiously, Angel picked him up, and gazed into his eyes. There was no mockery there, only love and adoration.
"Hey. What'd you do last night?"
"I falled asleep with Unca Conna."
Angel nodded. Spike must have fallen asleep, and forgotten the last of his memories about himself. Now, he was William. Spike had told him it was only a matter of days, but he didn't fully believe him. Now, well, he did, now, because the proof was right there, in front of him.
"I see. Shouldn't you be in the kitchen for breakfast?"
William put a finger to his lips. "Not if Mummy don't find out, Gampa."
Angel nodded, and carried him back into the kitchen, sitting him back in his seat.
Soon, Cassie re entered the kitchen, followed by Connor.
"Tell me again, why we have to get up this early on a summer vacation morning?" He asked groggily, slumping into his seat.
"It's lazy if you do, Unca Conna. Mummy says so." William said.
Connor looked at him funny, and then looked to ANgel.
"He fell asleep." He reminded, his voice low.
"Oh, yeah."
****************************************************************************************************
The others adjusted to Mary's death, and Spike now being William once more...only, in the present time, instead of the past.
They still took him out with them, even though now, he was technically an 'innocent'.
He still needed the love of his family to grow and learn.
There was only one problem...
"When do we go home?" He asked.
...He knew the dimension they were in was *not* his home.
