There is Nothing Wrong with Ohio Part II
Buffy stood baffled as she looked up at her old friend. She hadn't seen Pike since the senior dance when she was forced to burn the gym down. Pike was dressed nicer than Buffy remembered, wearing a white shirt with black tie and khaki pants. She walked over to him and gave him a brief hug.
"What are you doing here Pike?" Buffy asked.
"Oh you know me, just kinda wondered after graduation and ended up finding a job here in Cleveland. There is some demonic force here like nothing I saw in L.A. What have you been doing?" Pike responded.
"Me? Oh you know, I died twice, and destroyed Sunnydale." She quipped.
"You died? Wow, I never would have thought that; I mean you look so lively."
After speaking for a few more minutes Pike asked Buffy if she would like to get something to eat. They walked to a local resturant and Pike continued to fill Buffy in on the local demon scene.
He told here there were three major vampires living in the area. One claims to have been made by Lothos and always wanting to seek revenge on the slayer for killing him. Pike also mentioned a slow influx of other demons into the area in the last six months.
They agreed to meet at the park at sundown to begin patrolling.
Buffy returned to the hotel to find Willow, Xander and Kennedy talking.
"Oh hey Buffy" Kennedy spoke up.
"Hey guys, so I have a bit more information about the demon scene here. It seems we are in for a bit more trouble than we might have expected. Willow, have you heard from Giles at all?" Buffy quickly responded.
"Yea, he called earlier and said the Coven has found almost all the slayers." Willow reported.
"Buffy, I have checked out the house Kennedy's father bought for us, it is big. We might be able to make that ground zero for the new Council." Xander added.
It was now three o'clock and Dawn walked into the hotel room.
"Ok Dawn, Kennedy and I are going patrolling tonight so you will stay here with Xander and Willow." Buffy quickly mentioned.
Buffy explained that she had run into Pike and the others stood with confused looks on their faces. Dawn turned to them and explained that Pike had been Buffy's boyfriend in L.A. shortly after she became the Slayer. Buffy stood looking annoyed with Dawn for telling them that.
"Wait, Buffy you never said anything about an old boyfriend taking you out to lunch earlier." Willow mentioned in a concerned voice.
"Listen you guys, the relationship with Pike is over. I promise nothing is going to happen. When I knew Pike I was like Cordelia. I made Cordelia look nice, so I don't even think Pike and I are going to be able to get along. ", Buffy defended.
They went about their business for the rest of the night as Buffy and Kennedy prepared for the nightly patrol. As the sun went down they left the hotel and walked to the park where Buffy and Pike met. As they walked up Buffy could see Pike standing there. He was dressed differently than earlier in the day. He was wearing a black leather jacket that looked eight years old.
"Pike, this is Kennedy she is one of the other slayers." Buffy introduced.
"Another slayer? I thought you were the only one..." Pike sounded confused.
"I explained earlier that when we destroyed Sunnydale we made all girls who would be slayers, slayers." Buffy explained.
They walked to a cemetry and Buffy told Kennedy to patrol the western half while Buffy and Pike would patrol the eastern half. The cemetry was small, it had two or three crypts but nothing like anything in Sunnydale.
Buffy and Pike used the patrol as a chance to continue getting to know each others. As they reached the northern fence of the cemetry they heard a loud scream. Buffy ran to see what had happend. Kennedy trying to fend off a vampire but appeared no stronger than any other woman. Buffy tried to kill the vampire but it was able to bit Kennedy and run off.
Before the vampire could get too far, Pike came out and staked it. He came back to Buffy and she was on her knees crying. They decided to end the patrol of the night and they carried Kennedy back to the hotel. When they entered they found Willow in the corner paralyzed.
"We don't know what happend, about fifteen minutes ago she was over there talking to us and just fell." Dawn tried to explain before seeing Kennedy's body.
"Oh God" Xander said.
The silence was broken by the phone ringing. Buffy went to answer it.
"Buffy, we have..well a problem." Giles said to her.
