In the morning, Buffy woke and Spike was stroking her hair.
“Morning Beautiful,” he said, with a smile.
“Morning,” Buffy said, smiling back. “What time is it?”
“11:30,” he said, kissing her hair.
“Wanna dance with me?” Buffy asked.
Spike raised an eyebrow but agreed as they got out of bed. Buffy put on soft music and snuggled into his arms.
“Spike,” Buffy whispered, inhaling his scent.
“Yeah, Pet?”
“I know Riley only left the other night, but being with you, makes me feel safe. I like being with you and I would like us to be more, if you’re willing,” she said.
Spike couldn’t help but smile at her. “I think we could do that.”
Downstairs, there was a Scooby meeting in the living room that included Tara, Anya, Giles, and Dawn, while Xander and Willow talked in the kitchen.
“Xander, I have something to tell you, well show you and you have to promise you wont go off,” Willow said.
Xander followed Willow upstairs and they paused outside of Buffy’s room.
“Do you promise to behave?” Willow asked.
Xander nodded and Willow gently opened Buffy’s door.
Buffy and Spike were still dancing and lost in each other’s eyes so they didn’t notice Xander.
Xander kept his prose and gently shut the door. He looked at Willow with a confused gaze.
“I think she’s in love with him,” Willow said. “And I’m gunna stand by her the whole way. She hasn’t come clean, but I’m gunna ask her when she comes down.”
“Will, Riley only just left. She cant move on that fast,” Xander said.
“I think its okay. Buffy was upset about Riley and she went to Spike for comfort and he gave it to her. She’s happy now. They’re pretty close,” she
said.
“If Buffy says she loves him, I’ll do my best to get along with him,” Xander said.
With that they went downstairs to talk to everyone else.
Upstairs, Buffy suggested they go downstairs and face her friends. Spike didn’t argue and went down with her.
Willow snagged Buffy into the kitchen before things got heated. “But I don’t wanna be pushy, but I just wanna know what’s going on with you and Spike,” she said.
Buffy smiled. “I like him. I really like him but we’re taking it slow. Are you mad?”
“No. I just had a feeling that something was going on. Everyone else knows too and Xander took it better then expected,” Willow said.
“That’s good. Willow, is it supposed to feel strange? Because it doesn’t to me. It feels right. Spike swears he’ll never leave me and I’m pretty sure he never will,” Buffy said.
“You do need to talk to Xander though,” Willow said. “Just to make him understand.”
Buffy nodded. “I guess that’s a good idea,” she said.
Willow went to get Xander and pulled Spike to the side. “Spike, I’m just telling you that Buffy cant be hurt again. I’ll turn you into a toad if you hurt her,” Willow said, her resolve face on.
“Red, I cant hurt Buffy. I wont. I saw what everyone else did. I’ll only leave if she asks me too,” Spike said, softly.
“Good. I think you and I are gunna get along fine,” Willow said.
In the kitchen, Xander and Buffy were actually getting somewhere.
“Xander, I really want you to understand, where I’m coming from,” she said.
“I’ll try to get along with him but if it makes you happy. Its been awhile since you’ve been happy,” he said.
“It means a lot Xander,” Buffy said, giving him a hug.
