Buffy and Spike looked at each other, before Spike went upstairs.
He paused outside of Dawn’s room and listened to her sobs. “Dawn?”
“Go away,” she said.
“Lil Bit, please open the door,” he said.
“Why, so you can yell at me?” Dawn said.
“I’ll break the door down if you don’t open it,” Spike growled.
“Go away, I hate you,” Dawn yelled.
Buffy came up and looked at Spike, who had tears in his eyes. “Spike,” she said.
Spike looked at her. “Yeah?”
“She’s a teenager. Hormones,” Buffy said, softly.
“It’s not hormones this time,” Spike said.
He went in Buffy’s room and found a hair pin.
He went back out and picked the lock on Dawn’s room.
“Dawn?” Spike asked.
“Go away,” Dawn said. She was in the corner of her room, curled into a ball.
Spike went over and crouched in front of her. “Dawn, talk to me,” eh said, softly.
“No,” Dawn said. “You don’t care about me. You only care about Buffy. You promised me, when I came off the tower, that you loved me and you were gunna be here for me. You kept the promise until Buffy came back. Now I practically never see you.”
Buffy was watching from the doorway, and she stepped in. “Dawn, there’s a lot of things that you don’t understand,” she said.
Dawn looked up at her sister and stood. “I understand a lot more then you think I do,” she said, going over to her. “I know you’re sleeping with Spike and telling him it’s wrong. You’re the reason Spike never comes around anymore. You’re the reason he’s covered in bruises. And since when do you listen to Buffy?”
“Um…” Spike said, sheepishly.
“Dawnie, there’s still a lot you don’t understand,” Buffy said, softly.
Dawn looked at her. “What? The fact that you love him but you’re afraid he’s gunna leave?”
Spike’s eyes went to Buffy’s which were filled with tears.
“Dawnie,” Buffy whispered.
“What else don’t I understand. You’re the one who doesn’t understand. If you didn’t love him, you wouldn’t have started it in the first place,” Dawn said.
Buffy looked at Spike who had love shining in his eyes. She looked back at Dawn before running out of the room.
Spike took a step forward but didn’t wanna leave Dawn all alone. “Dawn?”
Dawn looked at him. “You need to go to her. We can talk later,” she said.
Spike looked at the door then at Dawn. “You sure?” He asked.
“Yeah,” Dawn said.
Spike ran out of the room and found Buffy running down the sidewalk. “Buffy!”
Buffy ignored him and kept running.
Spike growled and sped up. “Buffy. Come on!” He yelled.
Buffy slowed and finally came to a stop.
Spike caught up to her and stood in front of her. “Buffy?”
Buffy raised her eyes to meet his. “I’m sorry,” she whimpered.
Spike frowned. “For what?” Spike asked.
“God, Spike. I’m just so lost and confused. I just don’t know,” she whispered.
Spike put his hand on either side of her face and ran his thumbs under her eyes. “What’s in your heart?” He whispered.
Buffy took a shaky breath. “You are,” she said, looking into his eyes.
Spike lowered his lips down to hers in a gentle kiss. “I love you, Buffy,” he whispered.
Buffy brought her arms around his neck and kept her eyes closed. “I don’t know if I can ever say it Spike,” she said. “I’m sorry.”
“You don’t have to. I know you do,” he said, with a small smile.
Buffy smiled and leaned up to kiss him again.
