Spike saw the thing Giles was holding. “You aren’t putting that in me,” he said.
“Yes I am,” Giles said.
“No,” Spike said, moving up against the wall. “I’ve had enough crap in my head. No more.”
“Spike, it’ll find out if the triggers still working,” Giles said.
“Not with that you’re not,” Spike said, trying to move more away from Giles. He raised his fearful eyes to Buffy. “Please don’t put that thing in my head,” he said, softly.
Buffy looked at Giles and went over to Spike’s side. “Spike, its gunna make you better,” she said, resting her hand on his cheek. “I’m gunna be right here and it’s not gunna stay in your head.”
Buffy rested her hand on his and gave it a comforting squeeze.
Spike squeezed Buffy’s hand and tried to relax. “Okay,” he said, softly.
Willow stepped forward and began chanting. The stone turned to liquid and crawled onto Spike’s cheek. It crawled into his eye and Buffy could see it go into his brain.
Spike twitched and his hands went to his head as he whimpered.
Buffy pulled his hands away from his head. “Spike, are you okay?”
Spike trembled a little as the memories activated.
About an hour later, Spike had fallen asleep in Buffy’s arms and the stone had come out of his head.
Buffy forgot there were people downstairs, including Dawn. Her fingers were absently running through Spike’s hair, and her other hand was drawing patterns on his back.
Dawn went over and sat on the other side of Spike. “Is he okay now?” She asked.
Dawn’s question snapped Buffy out of her trance. “I don’t know Dawnie,” she said. “I hope so.”
“Can we unlock him?” Dawn asked.
Buffy pulled the key from her pocket and gave it to her. “Go ahead. I don’t wanna wake him up.”
Dawn carefully unlocked Spike’s shackles and Spike curled into Buffy mover. His arms went around her waist as he inhaled her scent.
Buffy kissed his hair softly and smiled at Dawn. “I think he’ll be fine,” she said.
“Is it wise to unlock him?” Giles asked.
Buffy looked at her watcher. “He’s not dangerous Giles” She said.
“We don’t know that,” Giles said.
“I know that,” Buffy whispered.
“There’s nothing we can do until he wakes up,” Giles said, going upstairs.
Everyone followed him except Buffy and Dawn.
Dawn curled up next to Spike and fell asleep. Buffy wasn’t too far behind.
