“Giles”, Nikki walked into his office.
“Nikki”, Giles looked up at the girl standing in his office, looking sadly at him. He forced himself not to pull her into his arms and continue where they left off.
“We need to talk...”, Nikki started off.
“I know, I know. What I did was completely unexceptable. I don’t know what came over me”, Giles looked down at the floor.
Nikki smiled. “That’s a pity ‘cause I was kinda hoping that it would come over you again”. Giles head shot up in surprise.
Nikki pulled a chair over and sat down opposite him. She put her fingers on his lips to stop him speaking. “Just listen to me”, she said. “Giles, I like you. A lot. I don’t really know what these feeling are but I do know how much I care about you. About how much I want to be with you. I never thought that you’d feel the same way but tonight when you kissed me... ”. She took his hands in hers and moved closer so that their knees were touching.
“Nikki”, Giles protested. “We can’t do this. It’s not right. For one thing you’re eighteen years old...”
“I’m not a child, Giles”, Nikki jumped up from the chair angrily.
“I know that. I noticed that a long time ago”, he saw her lips curl up into a smile. “But it’s not proper. I’m older than you and I’m an authority figure...” He walked over to where she stood.
“God Giles. Would you stop being so ... so ... British”. Now it was his turn to smile.
“Nikki”, he cupped her face in his hands. “I’m sorry. I can’t do this”.
“You’re the one who kissed me. You made the first move”, she moved closer and brushed her lips off his.
“This is great”, they both jumped back to see Spike standing at the door of the office. “Oh, please, please continue”, he folded his arms and grinned. “I’m quite enjoying this. It’s like a trashy American soap opera”.
Giles quickly pushed Nikki behind him while searching for a way out, but the only way out was through the door Spike was blocking.
“There’s no way out, old man”, Spike walked towards the two of them. “You could try but ... well, I’d like to see that”. Spike made a move to grab Nikki but Giles surprised him by jumping for him. As Giles tried, unsuccessfully, to overpower Spike, he turned to Nikki.
“Go”, he shouted. “Get Buffy”.
“No. I’m not leaving you”.
“Get out of here”, he yelled before Spike pushed him into his desk, knocking him out.
“You’re not going anywhere”, Spike ran and grabbed Nikki around the waist. Spike clicked his fingers and two other vampires came in to grab Giles out.
“Come on”, Giles pulled Nikki out of the room. He put his hand over her mouth to quieten her shouts but she bit him.
“You little bitch”, Spike looked at her angrily and he raised his hand. Nikki felt a sharp pain in her head before she saw the ground coming for her and she passed out.
