Dawn went upstairs after Buffy went out to patrol.
Spike was in her sister’s room, recovering from the first’s evil tortures.
Dawn opened the door and peeked in. Spike was asleep but he looked like he was still in pain.
Carefully, she slid in next to him and snuggled into his side. She fell asleep soon after that.
Buffy walked through the front door and took off her jacket. Wearily, she made her way up to her room to get some sleep. She paused when she opened her bedroom door. Dawn and Spike were sound asleep and Spike didn’t seem to be having nightmares.
She smiled and grabbed a change of clothes to change in the bathroom.
She went back to her room and slid next to Spike, careful no to disturb him or hurt him. She was soon sound asleep.
When Spike woke in the morning, he smiled at Dawn’s face. Vaguely, he felt Buffy behind him and smiled wider.
Dawn stirred a moment later and blushed when she saw Spike looking at her. “Hi,” she said, shyly.
“Morning,” Spike said, softly.
“Do you mind because it’s been a really long time since I’ve slept next to you. You always used to lay with me when Buffy was gone and I felt safe,” she said, softly.
Spike propped himself up on his elbow and brushed her hair back tenderly. “I thought you were mad at me,” he said.
“I was but it was because you left without saying goodbye. I thought you were abandoning me and it hurt so bad,” she said, tears stinging her eyes.
“But you understand why I had to do it right?” Spike asked.
Dawn nodded and snuggled closer to him. “Yeah. I understand. I just didn’t know if you were coming back and I felt so alone. But you did so I guess I can forgive you,” she whispered. “It feels good to have you with us again.”
Spike smiled and kissed the top of her head. “It feels good to be with you again,” he said, settling back down.
Dawn smiled. “I want to stay here, but I have to go to school,” she said, pushing herself up. “Do you need anything?”
Spike shook his head. “Have fun,” he said.
Dawn reluctantly climbed out of bed and went toward the door. “I’ll see you later Spike,” she said, leaving.
Spike smiled and turned on to his back.
Buffy snuggled against him as she began to wake up. “Spike?” She mumbled.
“Yeah?” Spike answered, trying not to wince as she grazed one of his wounds.
Buffy opened her eyes and smiled. “You okay? I saw Dawn up here when I went to bed,” she said.
“Yeah, she said she missed me,” Spike said, moving her arm off of his ribs.
“What?” Buffy asked, holding his hand.
“Hurts,” Spike said, softly.
“Sorry,” Buffy said, pushing herself up.
“Don’t worry about it,” he said.
“Did I open anything up?” Buffy asked.
“No,” Spike said, looking at her.
Buffy just looked at him for a long moment. “Do you wanna move around?” She asked. “Xander took the girls to his place.”
Spike smiled. “I do need a shower,” he said, swinging his legs over the side of the bed.
“Do you need any help?” Buffy asked, then blushed.
Spike turned and looked at her. “Pet, I appreciate everything that you did for me, but I think I can handle a shower,” he said.
Buffy smiled. “Sorry. Just so used to helping you. I forgot that you’re a big boy,” she teased.
Spike smiled and stood up. “You can still take care of me just after I come out of the shower,” he said, looking at her.
Buffy blushed. “Okay. Just leave the door unlocked in case you need me,” she said, softly.
“Yes dear,” Spike said, leaving the room.
Buffy smiled and shook her head. “He’s so annoying,” she mumbled.
“I heard that!” Spike called.
Buffy laughed as she heard the shower turn on.
When Spike went downstairs, Buffy was in the kitchen talking to a good looking girl.
“B, I’m here to help,” she said.
“Fine. But I’m not putting up with the crap that you pulled the last two time,” Buffy said, looking at Spike.
“Who’s the girl?” Spike asked.
“Faith, the vampire slayer,” Buffy said.
Spike raised an eyebrow. “I don’t wanna know,” he said.
Buffy smiled as she went over to him and ran her hands over his back. “Feel better?”
“Much,” Spike answered, pulling out a packed of blood.
Buffy smiled again. “Are things gunna be okay if I go to work?”
“Everything will be fine,” Spike said. “I’m pretty sure I can take her.”
Buffy shook her head. “Try to take it easy,” she said, leaving for work.
