“Buffy!”

Willow’s fear at being suddenly kidnapped was heightened by the knowledge that she was hanging upside down on her kidnapper’s shoulder. Spike’s shoulder. And Spike was running at top speed away from Buffy and any chance she had of getting away unmarked. Spike was a vicious killer, and who knew what sort of evil plans he had in store for her? She was draped over his shoulder ... but that’s just it. She was draped over his shoulder, and she was getting a close-up view of his very shapely butt. Willow began to feel faint, and not only from the blood rushing to her head.

“Spike ...”

“What, luv?”

“Could you please ... put me down?”

A chuckle. “And why should I do that?”

Willow decided not to tell him the real reason, but lying was not her strongest suit. “Because I’m feeling dizzy.”

Spike turned her over so that he was carrying her in his arms instead. “That better?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. He was still running from the Slayer, and he showed no signs of being tired. Willow admired his endurance, but she wasn’t about to tell him that. He had kidnapped her, for goodness sake.

Willow hid her face in his shoulder. Her erratic heart rate had begun to slow down, and she was breathing normally again. The initial fear and surprise had faded away into a warm, tingly feeling that had risen up inside her. < I wonder why I’m not more scared, > she wondered. Willow realized she was babbling. Not only was she babbling mentally , but she was dwelling on the fact that she was cuddled up in ... okay, okay, we get the point. Willow blushed furiously at her thoughts and was glad that he could not tell in the dark.

Spike glanced behind him to make sure that he had lost the Slayer. The streets of Sunnydale were empty as usual, but he couldn’t be sure that she wouldn’t pop out of the bushes when he wasn’t looking or something. Best to keep running. His car was only about a block away. It wouldn’t take long for him to get there. He looked down at the girl in his arms and smiled inwardly. He could make out the redness of her cheeks from the light of her moon, and he had a suspicion he knew what she was thinking about. Him, of course. Profile, indeed.
