“Am I the only one who saw her eyes turn green?” Spike asked.
“Her eyes *are* green,” Angel said and extended a hand to help the other vampire up. Spike reached for the hand then remembered the events leading up to him being in his current position and pushed himself to his feet, glaring at Angel.
“Her eyes are *blue*green,” he said. “And what the bloody fuck was that about earlier? Alpha male my arse! You’re a bloody eunuch you are.”
“I slept with Nina!” Angel defended but Spike continued like he hadn’t heard him.
“What is it about you anyway? Everything that’s mine had to be yours too. Everything…every*one* that I care about.”
He pointed toward the door.
“She’s my fucking Blood Mate Angel! I just got her back three days ago! Christ, I thought that she was dead for nine years…”
“You’re right.”
“And…what?”
“You’re right,” Angel repeated then took a steadying breath. “And…I’m sorry.”
Spike blinked.
“Come again?”
Angel grit his teeth.
“I said I’m sorry.”
Spike was speechless for a moment and Angel ran a hand through his hair.
“Look, Spike. We’re gonna be living in the same house for God-only-knows-how-long so I’m proposing a truce. You try not to annoy the hell out of me and I’ll try not to be a…”
“A wanker?” Spike supplied. “Prick? Self-righteous bloody arse…”
“That’s not very productive,” Angel growled. “But, yeah.”
Spike thought for a moment, arms folded across his bare chest, he still didn’t know where his shirt had gotten off to, then he held out a hand.
“Truce then?”
“Truce,” Angel said and they shook on it. There was a moment of silence then Angel asked, “Does Sarah stay mad long?”
“Did when she was nine,” Spike said. “Maybe we should call her.”
“Good idea.”
