Willow sat beside the hospital bed that a battered and bloodied Kennedy lay still. She held Kennedy’s hand patiently and faithfully as she had been since 10am that day. Now rounding noon, Kennedy showed no signs of stirring anytime soon, and Willow’s empty stomach was closer to shriveling up into a raisin than leaving her alone. So she left, on an adventure to the cafeteria; 2 floors below and crowded with noisy and depressed people.
Buffy and Spike had arrived at her new home in Cleveland after a long walk accompanied by an extensive conversation. A small, 2-floored townhouse attached to 2 other identical homes, with just enough room for Buffy, Dawn and a guest. As one could imagine, Buffy had frequent new neighbors. “Nice place, it’s not quite the old home in Sunny D, but it’s a start.” Spike smiled. “It’s hell to keep up though. Dawn and I are both working; Giles and Xander are both helping us out. Oh! Xander has his own construction company!” Buffy grinned. “And he’ll be glad to see me.” Spike rolled his eyes. “But, where are you working?” “I’m actually working for Robin again. He’s the new principal at the local high school- that by the way is not on top of a Hell Mouth!” Buffy bounced on her toes with pride. Spike smiled down upon the slayer, and moments later the first rays of sun shown through the living room window. “Oh! Shit ok hold on!” Buffy raced to her bedroom on the second floor, Spike hot on her heals until they were clear with no sun. Buffy closed her curtains and showed Spike her now vampire-friendly room. “I need some sleep.” Buffy sighed, checking her watch. “I have 2 hours to sleep before I need to go to work. Sleep with me?” She giggled at her pathetic pun. “I’m up for it.” Spike coyly smiled.
Dawn awoke to the indecent and torturous alarm clock. The young woman slid and shuffled down the stairs to the kitchen. Buffy wasn’t awake yet, she assumed, so it was now her turn to make breakfast. “Eggs are good. I like eggs.” Dawn said aloud opening the fridge and pulling out a dozen eggs. “Omelets are yummy.” She decided. 15 minutes later, a sloppy gray and rather disgusting looking omelet was ready. “Buffy!” Dawn called. When no one answered, Dawn took it upon herself to wake her sister up.
Dawn took no subtleties in whipping the door open and diving on the bed before realizing her sister was not alone. She should at least put a sock on the handle, Dawn thought, again before she realized who the stranger was. It all happened so fast. Buffy and Spike waking up together abruptly, Buffy annoyed at the disturbance, Spike delighted to see the young Summers girl again, and Dawn realizing “Oh my God! Spike’s back what the hell?! Buffy breakfast is ready! There’s not enough for Spike! What the hell?” Dawn rambled, nearly fainting from lack of oxygen. “Hey Dawn.” Spike tried to force a smile, as Dawn had landed her knee square in his kidneys, but his smile was barely even noticed in the estranged excitement. “Yeah, Spike’s back. Now get off my bed.” Buffy laughed as she slid out of bed. Both Buffy and Spike were still in their street clothes. I’m gonna get changed, I’ll let you and Spike get reacquainted downstairs.” Buffy smiled. “There’s not enough breakfast, sorry, if I had known you were here…” Dawn trailed off, realizing that Spike had no need for a gray omelet. “So, what? How?”
And suddenly it was night and Katie burst in through the doors and rode Spike like a jockey.
Author’s Note.
I have neither the patience nor the skill to write such an extensive and slow moving plot. I might update this once in a while, but until then, I’m going with shorter, faster moving plots until I become a better writer than Shakespeare, or at least able to do this plot justice.
Ps, later Katie waited for Kennedy to get better and then punched her in the nose for being annoying. But don’t get Katie wrong, she thinks Kennedy and Willow are a good couple, it’s just Kennedy is annoying.
