Buffy paced backwards and forwards across the library. She tried to decipher the strange explanation Xander had just handed to them.
“Let me get this straight,” Buffy said, “death is after you . . .”
“Yeah.” Xander replied
“ . . . But doesn’t know why.”
“That’s right.”
“So to stop yourself from dieing . . . You got yourself killed.”
“That pretty much sums it up yeah.”
Buffy stared at him. She opened and closed her mouth a couple of times as she tried to process the information unsuccessfully. Buffy rubbed her forehead.
“Giles can you deal with this I’m getting one of those Xander headaches.”
Giles looked at the ghost seriously.
“So there was no reason given for you extraction?” he asked.
“No all I know is they’ve targeted me for some reason.”
“That will have to be the first thing we have to look into.” Giles replied
Xander looked over to Willow. She was sitting on the table miserably and tracing her finger on the table.
“I’m gonna go talk to Will.” Xander said
Xander walked over to willow and bent over to meet her eye line.
“Hey,” he said softly, “You okay?”
Willow looked up at him. She had her full pout on.
“I said I don’t like dead Xander.” Willow replied sadly
Xander moved in and hugged her. Lucky for him he still remembered how to use his ghost abilities.
“I’m so sorry Will,” He replied caringly, “Believe me this was the last thing I wanted to happen.”
“Really?”
“Well, Actually, the last think I wanted to happen was to be dead, in my underwear, and have a pop quiz I haven’t studied for but this is a close second.”
Willow smiled briefly as she snuggled into Xander tighter. Suddenly Deeth arrived through the wall. Xander saw him with is hood up and jumped back. Realizing who it was he rolled his eyes impatiently.
“Damn it Deeth!” Xander exclaimed
“Oh, right,” Deeth said as he pulled his hood back, “Man I should really write myself a post-it or something.”
Deeth looked up and suddenly noticed the crowd.
“Hey, people are here. Hi people.” He said cheerfully.
Buffy looked from Deeth to Xander and back again.
“Who’s that?” Buffy asked
“That’s Deeth,” Xander replied
“Deeth?”
“There was a problem with my . . .” Deeth started
“Not now,” Xander snapped, “you got anything?”
“I think I stalled them for a while,” Deeth replied, “hope that’s enough time to find out why? So . . . these you’re friends?”
“Yeah this is Buffy and . . .”
Suddenly Deeth’s eyes lit up.
“Whoa, the slayer?” he replied as he took her hand and shook it wildly, “I am a big fan of your work.”
Buffy looked over to Xander anxiously.
“Again I ask who is he?” she asked
“He’s a reaper,” Xander explained, “Deeth was the one who found out about this. And also came up with the plan.”
“Yep killed him myself.”
Buffy looked back to him slowly.
“I was so hoping you would say that.”
Buffy walked over to the weapons cabinet and pulled out a sword.
“Whoa, hey what are you doing?”
“I was thinking of making my own plan.” Buffy replied
Buffy was about to move in when Xander intervened.
“I hate to say it by we need him.” Xander said
Buffy looked at Xander and lowered her weapon.
“Alright but I get to kill him later.”
“You have my permission,” Xander said as shifted his attention to Deeth, “Find something! Not a big fan of being away from myself.”
“I’m all over it.” Deeth replied
Deeth stood still and smiled at them. Xander shrugged at him annoyed.
“Well?” Xander said
“Oh you mean now.”
“yeah!”
“Got ya.”
Deeth held his scythe awkwardly and saluted. A moment later he vanished. Xander caught Buffy’s expression.
“This is the guy you’re trusting with the investigation?”
“Don’t have much of a choice,” Xander replied, “He seems to be the only one who knows what’s going on.”
