Robby's blood spilled out on to the pavement and Cordelia was staring at it with wide eyes.
"Careful, they're gonna pop out," said Robby with difficulty, the loss of blood was starting to effect her.
"You won't be making jokes when he wakes up."
"Who's he?"
"Robby!" Connor screamed as he ran towards them.
"Oh look," laughed Cordelia, "your own little knight in shining armour."
"Connor..." she tried to yell, but it only came out as a whisper.
The earth began to shake and a demon crashed through the road.
"Connor," it said in a deep voice.
"Not now baby," said Cordelia, "you can take care of the brat later. Do your thing."
The demon raised it's arms and it started to raon fire. Then both Cordelia and the demon disappeared.
"Robby?" Connor picked her up and ran for cover.
"Connor," she whispered weakly, "my arm."
He noticed the cut for the first time and ripped his sleeve off to tie around the wound.
"You alright?" he asked.
"I'll be fine, but that won't make much of a difference," she replied looking up, "we won't last long out here."
He picked her up again and ran back to the hotel.
He ran to the phone only to fond them dead, "What now?"
"I don't know."
He brought her upstairs and put her on the bed. Then he walked over to the window and saw the destruction the fire was causing.
"This is my fault," he said.
"How is this your fault."
"I was born where the demon came up. It said my name."
"You heard her?"
"Yeah, I heard."
"This isn't your fault."
"How do you know that?"
"Because you didn't summon that thing. Bitch Queen did," she got up and put her hand on his shoulder.
"Why don't like killing vampires?" he asked.
"Why do you want to know?"
"The world's about to end."
"That's not an answer for the question I asked."
"I want to know."
"My mother was killed by a vampire. I was only a month old. He came in for me and she stood in front of my crib."
"Why didn't it kill you?"
"He had a soul."
Connor spun around, "My father?"
"No, there's another vampire with a soul. Two actualy, but Spike's not important. After he bite her he ran, she was still alive and crawled over to me and climbed up the side of the crib and kept saying 'I love you' over and over and over and..." she wiped the tears out of her eyes.
"How do you know that all this happened?"
"When I was in hell something read my mind and projected the things it thought would hurt me most all around me. It was like I was there but I couldn't do anything."
"I'm sorry. But shouldn't that make you hate vampires?"
"Yeah I know, but when I got back The Powers That Be gave me a protector. A vampire with a soul and things were okay for a while I really trusted him but he always seemed really familiar and then one night it hit me."
"He killed her."
"Yes. I shot him and then told him he had an hour to get out of town and the next time I saw him I'd kill him."
"Why didn't you kill him then?"
"Because he was the closetest thing I'd had to family in my entire live."
Before either of them could say anything else one of the balls of fire
AN./ Goodness gracious! Huh? Huh? Ah you guys are no fun.
hit a neighboring building and the hotel shook.
"You okay?" he asked.
"Why do you care?"
"I...I uh...I care about you."
She looked at him surprised, she hadn't marked him as someone that would say something like that.
"I shouldn't have said anything..."
"Connor stop," she put her lis on hers and puled him towards her.
He broke away looking confused.
"The world is about to end Connor," she whispered, "we aren't going to get another chance."
In the sewers Angel held Dawn knowing they were going to die and prayed Buffy wouldn't hate him for not being able to protect her baby sister
Lorne had sped to Wesely's and with the rest of Angel Inc. hid under a desk hoping if this was the end, they would see each other on the other side...
